Re: Tribe votes on Sioux Nickname
No Ralph Engelstad non-threat to the State Board of Higher Education this time. xeyebrowx

The day after the wealthy casino owner and real estate developer sent his letter, the state Board of Higher Education voted 8-0 to keep the nickname and a newly designed logo. It is a profile of an American Indian with feathers and war paint.
Engelstad owns the Imperial Palace hotel-casinos in Las Vegas and Biloxi, Miss.
"Please do not consider this letter a threat in any manner, as it is not intended to be," Engelstad wrote to UND President Charles Kupchella. "It is only notification to you of exactly what I am going to do if you change this logo and this slogan."

But what is going to happen to the Ralph now...UND does NOT own the building its still in the family's hands. They could tell the Sioux touch one logo on this building and you can play hockey somewhere else.

I find the Buffalo Bills name personally offensive. xwhistlex

Maybe the family could merge some kind of casino advertising using the logo's. Lot's of Casino advertising in the arena's in the Twin Cities.
Re: Tribe votes on Sioux Nickname
2200 logos in the building...well guess where the states $1 billion dollar surplus is going. I would make the NCAA pay for it.

Wasn't the point to make it financially impractical to remove all the logos?

Yes it was. But who knows how they are or if they can remove all the logos. I think there are some that are unremoveable.

It is a loss to the entire hockey community to no longer have the Fighting Sioux playing hockey, would be even worse if they lose the Ralph....is the old arena even still standing?
I wish them luck with the whole thing. I saw let the tribes vote, I know the one did, I don't get why the other guy won't even put it up to a vote...for shame
