Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Citadel answer right back. They are running very well. The O-line is finally getting it right apparently. Cid answer right back.
28-7 3rd 6:06.

WCU has 8 penalties for 80 yards. If not for that, and one big mistake this game would be either tied or one score difference.
Those penalties have really helped us. we are still, characteristically, 0/0 on penalties.

Nice to have, but I would also be happy with a defense.

I think you just got one with that interception. How stupid. We could have just kept running it and been fine, but we had to throw it.

Cit 28 - WCU 21 6:51
14 plays for 76 yards

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
BIG drive upcoming for the Cadets. Just what kind of team are the 'Dogs? We'll find out.

I guess we just found out.

Catamounts get their first defensive stop and get the ball back at 4:32

Lehigh stinks Citdog, but Citadel stinks worse.

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Wow. Defense steps up big time. Big time interception! Double tip.

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Bulldogs intercept off a bounce

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
WCU looked like a different team in the second half, but unfortunately we were too far down.
-
Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
2 minutes to go. Cid on western 21 28-21. Should be over barring a stupid mistake.

I expect more from those who pay 57,115 per year for their education.

Thanks for the running commentary... It's a lot faster than gametrack!

They were very good in the second half. We almost blew it. Mitchell is pretty good.

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Under a minute to go. Cid 28-21 WCU, ball on 6. 1st in goal. Protect the ball!

Play like that every week and you'll win a few this year. WCU, like always, played to the last snap today.
-
Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Yeah he seems to bring some life to the team, just wish we could stop the run. We should pick up a win next week then head out to Samford, which is going to be pretty scary.
-
Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Game, 28-21. WCU is going to get a win. Elon or Furman maybe. Minus a few mistakes, they could have, maybe should have had this one. Nice come back in second half.
-
Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
I really don't want to think about our pass D against ODU next week, but I'll take this win. Mitchell is a good QB who is going to give WCU's opponents problems all season.

The only pass D we will have is to run the ball. Keep it out of their offense's hands and we have an outside chance.

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Take away WCU's one big mistake, and their penalties and they win this game.
I'm not happy with our staff at all. We did our best to lose, but the kids pulled it out and I'm proud of them.
Another observation- WCU this week was better than Wofford last week. That might not be the case this week, or when they play each other, and I'm not taking anything away from Wofford. what I am saying is that WCU has a good team, or at least a much improved one over last year. I fully expect them to beat Elon and Furman, and to steal one from someone they shouldn't. The QB is the real deal.
Maybe the jug's final resting place is Cullowhee?

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
WCU improved significantly? The Citadel not quite what we thought they were? Both?
-
Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
WCU is undoubtedly better this year. They'll win like 3 games but really how good are they ever gonna get? Seems like just an impossible place to win at at this point
-
Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
I generally root for App, but I would l would love for the Catamounts to take a notch in the rivalry.

TYPICAL Southern Conference game. Western has talent, as usual, and Speir is learning how to use it. They are MUCH improved. The 'Dogs are an unknown at this point.

Nah not impossible to win just need to repair 25+ years of damage to our program...

WCU has not been very good at hiring football coaches.

I'm rooting for you guys real hard. I want to see you beat everyone but App, I have some good friends at Western.

Re: The Citadel at Western Carolina
Congrats to The Citadel. Sounds like WCU is moving in the right direction.

The head coaches haven't been the problem (except for the previous guy, what an embarrassment). It has been more about poor administration, poor infrastructure, lack of resources. Bill Bleil was SoCon coach of the year when he was fired for off-field stuff and Kent Briggs saw things go downhill with the program after he came down with cancer. The Cats played for a share of the SoCon title in 2005.
I think WCU has a very good head coach and a nice staff now, with Mark Speir and the guys. I have some good friends on that staff.

I am sure it is, since it is so rare. All you have going for you taking shots at then PL. kick them while they are down now. You won't have the chance for long. xnodx
