I think this could really hurt the Yanks, as Matsui has always been pretty consistent in left. Also, this ends his consecutive games played to begin a career streak at 518
This makes 2 starting outfielders now currently on the DL, the other is Gary Sheffield

This loss is devastating for the Yankess. Matsui always seemed to be the guy that could carry the team when the others were struggling.
But, the only good thing that can come about this is that now they actually have to give their young outfielder's the chance they've never gotten. As a Yankee fan, it always would frustrate me when they would give up quickly on a young player after only given him a small amount of at-bats. Guys can learn how to hit in the big leauges unless they get meaningful at-bats against the best.

Matsui is also a Red Sox killer. Good news for Beantown.

He's been IMO the most consistent player for the Yankees since his arrival and his loss will be a blow to the lineup. At least he won't be called by Steinbrenner the "left fielder" for a while

While he was a fine fullback for the Bears I hardly think him being OUT matters much these days... :)
