While many stadiums or arenas have statues in remembrance of great players or coaches, such as Stan Musial in St Louis, Michael Jordan in Chicago, or Knute Rockne at Notre Dame, only Yale could come up with a statue of............a dog.

There is a store across from Ohio stadium that has a life size (5' 9") statue of Woody Hayes. That isn't so remarkable. The fact that they spent 40 grand on it, now that is something.

At Villanova we don't have any football statues either. If we were to do players it would be probably be Westbrook or Long player wise, and Andy Talley definitely would be worthy of a statue after he retires. Personally, I wish we had a Wildcat statue somewhere on campus. When I was making the college visit circuit many of the schools like Lafayette, Pitt, Penn State, and Bucknell had their mascots on display.
At Villanova all we have at the Stadium is track coach Jumbo Elliot

For those who don't know, it was Mr. C who coined the term Touchdown Yosef in the old Kidd Brewer Stadium press box at one of the games soon after this statue was erected. It just reminded me too much of Touchdown Jesus at Notre Dame. One of my favorite moments was hearing one of my favorite announcers, Gary Thorn (a great guy, BTW) refer to the statue as Touchdown Yosef on the air during a quarterfinal-round playoff game during ASU's three-year championship run.

Interesting story behind those bulldogs...
President Machtley said that if at least 50% of seniors donate money for a class gift he would dive/swim in one of the Bryant ponds. The students responded; Machtley jumped and all the money went to get the Statues for all the entrances of the football stadium.

I really like the big M up on the mountain. We've got to get one of those in Fargo. Oh wait -- nevermind. :)
I don't know if we have any geologists here, but the horizontal lines on Mt. Sentinel are ancient (relatively) shore line of Glacial Lake Missoula. Pretty interesting read if you want to google that.

I do not get if he is supposed to be flying off that or not, because he seems like he is below the perch.
