CULLOWHEE — It has become a sad but true tradition on football Saturdays at Whitmire Stadium.
As the highly-regarded Western Carolina Marching Band leaves the field after the halftime show, hundreds of fans also file out, almost in unison.
The band returns to its seats in the stands after another flawless performance. The exiting fans return to their lives, confident that the halftime show will be the last and only competent on-field act they witness that day.

This was the experience Saturday. On a perfect day for being outside, a stadium that seats 13,742 was not even close to half full at kickoff. By the third quarter the announced attendance of 4,770 had dropped to hundreds, with entire sections empty.
Players looking up to the bleachers for support saw little more than vast expanses of aluminum and concrete.
Don’t blame the fans for not coming or leaving early — there’s nothing much to watch except the other team scoring at will.
The press box and most of the seats face west, which means looking straight into a glaring sun the entire afternoon. Perhaps the architect was looking ahead, helping obstruct the view of the continued ugliness being witnessed by home fans who have sat through two wins and 13 losses in this stadium the past three years.

After having seen the higlights of the Terriers v. Cats, I am very confident, this game will not be a shut-out and, in fact, I boldly predict the App offense will score a touchdown on WCU. xwhistlex
My Terriers called off the Dogs at half and still ran thru their D like ex-lax thru....never mind, you get the idea.

Honestly, I don't think this Western team is worse than the 2008 UTC team.

Honestly he should be apologizing for the job he has done so far instead of saying he almost has the program turned around. I would believe that if we had 4 wins.
My favorite line of that whole interview was “We have to get a break here and there, and we have to overcome a few things...” His only concern is offense (Obvious considering how terrible the defense is) and his mentality is "As long as we score 1 more point than the other team." Well unfortunately football is more than just offense and he is showing that he lacks what it takes to be a head coach.

Agree. The worst thing that happened to WCU was Furman beating App last week. This could seriously top the 2007 score....
