GSU's Darion Robinson's amazing kick return for TD during the GSU-App game this past weekend.

GSU already has a play called "The Run" with Adrian Peterson in the 99 NC:

Can you really have a signature play with a nickname that goes down in history if the game resulted in a loss?

My first reaction to this play during the game was: bad tackling by ASU punt team.

After watching it about 4-5 times I now think this may have to be one of the best individual efforts I have seen all year. The tackling wasn't all that bad, our guys just couldn't get him down.

It was an incredible individual effort by a player who would not give up. A special player.

We really have something special in Robinson. Also nice to catch a glimpse of myself in the highlight haha

Best part of that video is at the 0:27 mark when Band-Geek-guy's right hand and mouth get all blurry.... wierd how that happens.

Pretty good determination by quick as well, if I saw it correctly, he was the first guy to miss, then got to his feet and caught back up to the play, got off a block and was there to try the last ditch dive before Robinson got in the endzone.

BTW, My wife and I can be seen jumping around @ :31-:33

That was a great play by a special player and literally kept GSU in the contest. Gotta admit though that "The Run" by AP is one of my favorite FBS plays....even if it was by an Eagle. Love when he just throws the DB to the ground and keeps running.

I could be like a GaSo fan right now and talk about all the holds going uncalled, but I will just take the W instead.

I told my brother-in-law right before the punt that GSU would tie it up shortly...I didn't know it would be that "shortly." What an effort!

Defensively you guys played a great game against the option. Shaw is a couple steps too slow to get any yardage and that was the only option the defense left open. They took away the dive, pitch and the pass with the 2 picks. Can't wait to see what we do next year when we have a qb that can run with Izzy, McKinnon and/or Prince at QB

This guy was nearly responsible for beating ASU alone - he was awesome! Without him ASU would have won easily.

Yeah, absolutely extraordinary effort.

Brian Quick was PISSED he missed the first tackle.

Y'all had more return yards than offensive yards as well. Once all three phases come together for us. LOOK OUT!

I agree. This 2-pt conversion against JMU in 2008 was one of my favorite Armanti plays. Game resulted in a loss. But, I could watch this .gif for hours.

I don't mean is a highlight still a highlight in a loss

Would we have the Immaculate Reception if the Steelers gave up the ensuing kickoff and lost the game?

During the Georgia Southern/Appalachian State game this past Saturday, #7 Darrieon Robinson (GSU) returns this punt to tie the game with 14 minutes remaining. Hell of a return, if you ask me.

Enjoy:

That's 50% poor tackling and 50% good returning.

Sorry, I think "The Return" is already taken. Don't remember the opponent (maybe Furman), but it was on an extra point attempt at the end of another App St. game years ago.

Oh, you must be referring to "The Miracle on the Mountain". It already has a name. Thanks Bobby!

Return I- Miracle on the Mountain

Return II- 2006 Corey Lynch blocked one and returned in ~80 yards for a touchdown right before half. Furman was kicking a field goal to take a 10-7 lead into halftime. After the blocked kick return... Furman threw in the towel and we won 40-7.

Return III- Dominique McDuffie's return of a bad snap on a field goal against SC State in the playoffs in 2009. SC State was kicking to take a 16-13 lead. With Dominique McDuffie's TD on the field goal we won 20-13.

Return IV- Also Roger Walker's 75 yard return on a bad snap against Chattanooga this year. Chattanooga was kicking to take a 9-0 leadat the end of the 3rd quarter. The return gave us our first poins of the game and our first hope of actually winning the game.

I'm probably leaving one out.

Good play but I don't think this is any more special than Jayson Foster's return against UCA, we lost that game too so most people don't care.

EDIT:

Crap, it was not a return but a simple handoff at 0:26...

Jayson did set the school record against Appy though on a kickoff return...

Haha this is exactly what I first thought. Someone else may have already said this, but I think it also can't have a nickname if that play didn't win the game.

JMU vs. UR 2008 - THAT was "The Return". Scotty's punt return won the game.
