View Full Version : Georgia State getting more attention...

They have a new Scout site: www.panthersville.com (http://www.panthersville.com).
I know many of you aren't exactly "fans", but an FCS program getting a site on the Scout network is not insignificant.

It's called all they have to do is pay for it.
That's why App has a good site on Rivals.

Yeah, it kinda is. You think having a scout website is going to turn your program around?

Meh... it's kinda' like a fart. You have to do it but nobody wants to be around it, nobody likes it, you don't make any friends by doing it, and you're the only one that sees the benefit of it.
In fact, that's a good analogy for Georgia state football... a fart. Just like a fart Georgia State football is a bunch of sound and fury signifying nothing and it stinks.

I was going to write that I'd be impressed, perhaps, if I knew what the requirements are to earn such a lofty distinction. After all, many teams here have achieved considerable success over the course of more than a century of football without the benefit of a "Scout" presence.
I see, however, that the issue been taken care of by manbearpig in a capable fashion. xsalutex

BTW, what is it about Georgia State fans that makes them think they piss lemonade?? At least Bison fans are fully able to take responsibility for Lakes and JaBBer (and JaBBer went kind of loco anyway with the gay porn). I don't think Georgia State sports fans existed at all before they got a FB team, now they're every bloody where on the internet. (Just not at the Georgia Dome).

Not to mention we are the first college to have a game featured on the Longhorn Network that doesn't involve UT. But as long as you're hating...carry on....

I know this is like shooting ducks in a barrel here, but OK, I'll bite - let's start with a definition of the term, "we get attention," shall we?

UTSA (not Georgia State) signed an agreement to broadcast their last 5 home games on the Longhorn Network (September 10 - McMurry, September 24 - Bacone College, October 8 - South Alabama, October 29 - Georgia State, November 19 - Minot State)
Sorry, not the first and not that impressive.

I have about 1400 channels and not one of them is the Longhorn Network. I'd rather be on the greater Nome area's public access channel.

I admit I was mistaken about that fact. But the fact remains that we get a lot of hate because we get a lot of attention, whether it is deserved or not. Hell a Ga St. fan didn't even create this thread. We have Ga Southern and Tribe trolls following us onto the UTSA fan page and on the blogs of our hometown newspaper. It is what it is.

Honestly...outside of Bill Curry's old *** using some ESPN connections to name drop Georgia State a few times...and a HORRENDOUS ***-whooping from Alabama on national TV...I can't think of any real exposure GA State football has had.

Thats more than you get despite your 6 NC. Not to mention we get front sports page billing on a major market newspaper website which no FCS team can claim.

Manufactured hype >>>> Six National Championships. Silly me; I didn't know. It's not all about how the players perform, it's all about how the smarmy little marketing execs perform.
I'm so sorry for making fun. Now that I know, I'll do better next time.

Don't remember even hearing a passing mention about Georgia State when they got butt raped by Bama.

I'm happy that someone else actually took notice to their opponent for their debut on the Longhorn Network. I have no problem with Ga State getting publicity, but it's crazy to think that it means anything when you aren't getting things done on the field.

The only requirement is that Scout has to think that you have potential to be a successful market for them. In this case, Scout added the site (something they rarely do) at their own expense (there is no cost for the admin), because they see Georgia State as the next "USF or UCF" (their words, not mine).

With Alabama's run defense this year, I hope we can score a few points on them. The Tide is looking crazy good this year.

That's why I love Georgia State fans. They make us NDSU fans look like the most humble people on the planet. Georgia State fans are the type of people all of us FCS fans can unite against. xrotatehx

Laughing at does not equal jealousy.
If a Seahawks fan posted on an NFL board about being the next big NFL dynasty I'm quite sure it would generate multiple posts.

This really is the root of the problem. We (Atlantans) are just too used to ACC and SEC football. We are college football fans, not FCS fans. FCS just isn't going to cut it here. We know it, the admin knows it, the market knows it. So, the question is not "if" but "when" and "where".
So, you guys see that as a slam on FCS - which I don't really blame you for - but at the same time, it is simply a reflection of the reality we are dealing with.

Georgia State may indeed go FBS, but in the meantime you are FCS, and struggling to compete. You just lost to a start-up that had wins over Bacone, and Northeastern State, and that was crushed by the three established FCS programs they've played. Using terms like "jealousy" is bound to bring laughter on this board.

Respect at the FCS level isn't earned by some prick in an Armani suit in a 20th floor conference room quantifying potential marketability of a team. It's earned by that team, like, I dunno, WINNING LOTS OF GAMES.
Back in 2009, NDSU football sucked 17 ways from Sunday (3-8). During that time, our fan base tried to fall back on the JBB/Lakes type arguments of "Well, we just have more fans than most of you, and we're in a TV market of over 600,000 people and we get top-10 attendances, bla bla bla". It didn't go over so well with the other fan bases.
So we started winning a whole s**tload of games and now guess what: Other fans generally have a respectful view of us now.
Win some games. Don't just sign a bunch of media contracts. The latter won't get you any respect on this board. Media hype may = respect in the FBS/BCS world, but here you have to work for your paycheck.

Northern Iowa has a scout page....yep....doesn't mean **** because it isn't used for anything.
Most teams have a phbb/vforum site that they use, and is much better than Scout.
Rivals is far superior when it comes to forums (and in general).

I agree! Losing all of your games, is losing all of your games. Doesn't matter if you do it in FCS or FBS.
