I know there's got to be some Jim Rome fans out there...
So, who are your picks to win the 2006 Smackoff that takes place this Friday? I've been listening to it for atleast seven, eight years now and I always get excited because while some of the stuff is at times, dull, the calls are much better and it's strictly the callers that you always look forward to hearing...
Some of the usual notables that will surely take part...
Sean the Cablinasian in Houston, a three-time champion (1999, 2003 and 2005 champ)
Jeff in Richmond (2001 champ)
Doc Mike DiTolla (1997 and 2000 champ)
Jeffrey E. DiTolla, "Esquire" (1996 champ)
Silk in Huntington Beach (2002 champ)
Kerwin in Riverside
Terrence in Sierra Madre (known as the best caller in the Jungle 364 days a year)
Rachael in Houston
Iafrate (2004 champ)

This is the dumbest idea ever errrrrrrrrrr a bunch of idiots who couldn't carry a conversation in person talk smack on the radio to each other about sports. Rome is an idiot and the only time he really talks sports is interviews, and even then, he asked dumb questions

If you were to listen to Rome, he'd tell you that he's one of the best interviewers there is in the industry! xlolx

Cablinasian or Terrence.
Terrence is due!!! The best caller to never win a smackoff.
I like Jim Rome. He's arrogant, but I haven't heard too many sports radio people that aren't. Every person that does talk radio does it for a reason. They have a lot to say and are never wrong. I'd be arrogant too if I was the highest paid guy in sports radio.
Anyone know what "the Cablinasian" is supposed to mean?

Cablanasian is from Tiger Woods - when asked if he considered himself Black (Dad) or Asian (Mom is Thai), he responded: Cablanasian - his dad has White (Caucasian), Black and Native American ancestors, and his mom is Asian. The caller from Houston that goes by that name claims to have the same ethnic makeup.

I listen to Rome everyday while driving around. I usually laugh my ass off, he is funny as hell! Some of the things the callers say are too much as well. Anyone hear the guy that was doing the "ARGH" sounds? I almost crashed my truck into the median!xlolx

I've grown to "appreciate" Rome. I've been tuning into "Rome is Burning" lately and it's starting to grow on me, not as much as PTI or Around the Horn, the best hour of TV of the day. He's cocky and not affraid to say what he's thinking which isn't a bad thing. How many of us have ripped athletes or thought some of things he's actually said? I don't agree with everything that comes out of his mouth but i respect him in voicing it. Now as for Steven A. Smith :bang: xidiotx

Sean the Cablanasian gets loads of run here in Houston, as the city of course is one of the top affiliates in the Jungle. Always mentioned in humor columnist for the Chronicle, Ken Hoffman's columns.

We violently disagree about race relations, but then we find something we have in common- our dislike for that idiot Jim Rome. I guess a blind squirrel will find a nut occasionally.

I dispise his cocky ass, I can't even see him while on the radio, and I know he has to have a "my **** don't stink grin" on his face 24/7
