I want to know how you feel about your organization passing up on the ridiculous talent that is Reggie Bush. I think Mario Williams will be good, but Bush could be incredible. I know that if the Steelers had been in that position and had done what the Texans did, I'd be furious as a Steelers fan, so I was wondering what the fans think.

Running backs don't win championships in the NFL - defense does.
Great pick by the Texans.
Look at the top 10 rushing yards guys of all time. They were 8-3 in SB's. I think Marcus Allen had the only dominating performance, while Emmit had one great game as well. Also keep in mind that the Rushing Champ has won the SB only 2x I think (TD 1998 and one of Emmitt Smith's years).
1. Emmitt Smith - he's the one guy you could argue for, but I would say the fact that he would go 8 yards before getting touched was a much bigger cause. Also, his 3 SB's were 108, 132, and 49 rushing performances.
2. Walter Payton - one SB win, but it was with one of the greatest defenses of all time.
3. Barry Sanders - no SB's, not even close
4. Curtis Martin - one appearance, no wins, traded for a second round pick I believe
5. Jerome Bettis - one very famous win, but he was not the driving factor to them winning this year
6. Eric Dickerson - no SB's
7. Tony Dorsett - 2 SB's, 1 win. Not sure what to think about him since he was before my time
8. Jim Brown - N/A pre SB era
9. Marshall Faulk - 1 win, 1 loss - passing team
10. Marcus Allen - 1 win, and he actually was a huge part of it
8.

I think I'm one of the few, the proud...TEXANS FANS! It's been tough being in NOLA working when everyone around me is Saints fans. I wrote this the other day and I'll share here too...
Why Mario? Why Not Reggie? Because you have invested a great deal of money in Domanick Davis already and your pass-rush has been so ineffective since your first year in the league...
It's easy to find a running back that can get the job done, is it now? How many combined titles did Gale Sayers, Earl Campbell and Barry Sanders win? None. That's right. Teams don't need a player like Reggie Bush to win. Seen the teams that have won lately? Running backs were all acquired in later rounds or in FA. Jerome Bettis was a "broken down bus" last year when the Steelers won, they relied heavily on their defense and recieving corps.
You would've done a great job public relations-wise and gotten a player that would've made people excited, but what wins championships? Former Dallas Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson said championship teams are built around dominance at quarterback and in the offensive and defensive lines.
Gary Kubiak believes Carr can take him to the Super Bowl. If he didn't feel that way, the Texans wouldn't of given him the extension. The Texans have bolstered their OL through the draft and free agency this year and have done the same on their defensive line, notably with the signing of Anthony Weaver and drafting Mario Williams. You see that big 350 pounder from Pitt?
This pick was perhaps not the ideal pick for the fans, but if Williams is anything the part of Reggie White or Bruce Smith, it will bring the Texans closer to winning the Super Bowl. Williams can hold the line for 12-15 years. What's the typical shelf life on RBs? 6-8 years. I could care less who is on this team. I just want to win and the way the Texans have played defense, it doesn't seem like we even had a chance to win.
I'm a diehard Texan fan. I love this team like none else. You better believe I'll stand by the Texans through the ups and downs. As much as I wanted Reggie Bush to be drafted, I want even more to win a Super Bowl. I have faith in Gary Kubiak. He has a system and coaches in place that I feel can win.
Everyone can call me stupid just like the Texans, Charley Casserly or whomever you want to give a hard time, but hey, we're all Monday Morning Armchair Quarterbacks anyway! Everyone is a critic! Sit back on that sofa, criticize anything and everything win or lose. That's how it always is and always will be. Trust me, I've heard enough sports radio and read the message boards to know that win or lose, it'll be like that.
All I ask is that you just let me sit back, wearing my Texans watch, waving my Texans 'Reliant Energy Power Towels', singing that crazy ole Clay Walker Texans song and cheering for the team that I look forward to watching every Sunday.

As ESPN pointed out, Williams had 11 sacks in his last 23 games in college...not the most impressive performance. I think Williams can be good, but he is more of a combine phenomenon, who didn't have the level of productivity that Reggie Bush had. And Bush is a physical specimen himself, so I still can't believe the Texans drafted Williams.

Since the draft, I've heard some folks that are "insiders" or "experts" from various media outlets talking about NC State having some pretty bad defensive coaching and that Williams was pretty raw and needs some good NFL coaching to point him in the right direction...
Not sure what to make of that, but I've heard that from atleast three of these "experts". I wish we knew what went on behind the scenes before the draft. Something tells me that Bush's agent may have something to do with this. You just can't put the pieces together of this puzzle.
