I see Furman has hired a new basketball coach (Jeff Jackson, Cornell grad); before his assistant coach stint at Vanderbilt, he was head coach at New Hampshire.

His record as head coach there is very impressive -- 21 wins 60 losses  (according to the Greenville News)

what say you, OL' FUmanchu?

The talk among the fans is positive. I honestly have no clue. On the UFFP many are discussing the difficulty of a winning program at UNH in basketball. Is this the case? I don't know. From what I understand he received at least one very very good recommendation from Bobby Johnson who I am sure the Furman AD agrees knows coaching.

All in all, we will see. The good news is it can't get worse than some of the coaches in the past, ie Cantafio and Gene Davis. (Larry Davis took us from bad to mediocre. Will see what Jackson can do.)

But with the success of Furman baseball lately, we need to offer more scholarshps in that sport:D

USC and Furman play in our mini Fenway in May. Should be interesting. Of course they do owe us for last year:D
