Virginia cornerback Philip Brown - a five-star prep prospect two years ago according to TheInsiders.com - is apparently considering a transfer to Grambling.

He would arrive to bolster an already-talented GSU secondary having been called Virginia's No. 1-ranked prep recruit in 2003 by Rivals.com. But he failed to meet minimum NCAA academic eligibility requirements, so Brown was shipped off to Hargrave Military. There, he was ranked as the No. 1 junior-college cornerback and the No. 9 JUCO player in the country by CollegeFootballNews.com.

Can he get academically eligible? Is he willing to make the commitment?

You always hope these guys can pan out as if athletics do not work for them professionally, that they atleast have a degree to fall back on. From reading up on him, seems like he'd be an enjoyable corner to watch...

Best of luck to Brown in getting his academics in order.

Reloading an already loaded defense, we just started scratching the surface, its going to be scary come September when you see what Spears is going to bring to the table. The 2004 recruiting class was awesome.

Good pickup... Hopefully we will get a 12th game so we can expand our scheduling. I'd like the extra game to be against a La school in a neutral site (alternating between Shreveport Independence for the North La schools and Tad Gormley/New Orleans for the South La schools). We will be locked into the MEAC Challenge game for the next 5 years or so. That leaves us with one more open game, hopefully against a D1 for a nice payday.
