I have no idea the last time the Sycamores were ranked. Not as high as I hoped though.

How can anyone justify a vote for EWU, San Diego, SFA, Jacksonville, Missouri St, SDSU or Nova? If I took a few more minutes I could probably name a few others, do these people just pick teams out of a hat or what?

Looks like Eastern Washington has a fair chance of being 0-5 & still getting votes.

They're ineligible for Southland Conference title and playoffs (making the transition to FBS and have currently 74 scholarships) ... should also include national rankings IMO

If I took a few more minutes I could probably name a few others, do these people just pick teams out of a hat or what?I count 69 teams all together including the ORV teams so pretty much every full scholly FCS school should have some votes with that many teams included. Not justifying the toolsheds who made those votes but if you consider that these teams are technically ranked in the bottom half of the FCS it makes it a little more logical in the big picture of the poll.

I thought cupcakes don't count? Or do you have special rules and standards just for NDSU?

Sorry Darrell, you seem like a nice guy but you have two wins. One against non-scholarship Drake and the second against NAIA/D2 Black Hills State. Neither UND or SDSU should be getting any votes, in any poll.

Why are they and why should they? Because they beat another new program in Lamar?

I believe Darrel was referring to 0-4 EWU, not 3-0 NDSU there when he mentioned an 0-4 team ahead of UND.

To be fair, I can justify a South Alabama vote before a lot of those other ORV teams.

USA, UMass, and Texas St shouldn't be getting votes from anyone. Their transitional status allows them more than the 63 maximum schollies allowed in FCS and are therefore NOT FCS.

W&M -I disagree with their ranking-too high.

No not at all. The past two weeks they have played 2 fbs schools, both not world-beaters, but they were in the game both times. Even coming behind from a 33 point deficit against Kent State to only be 23 yards and a two-point conversion from tying it. What FCS school can come back from 33 down against any FBS school?

I know Texas State is at 74 schollies in 2011, does not count as a Southland Conference game and is not eligible for SLC title and/or playoffs ... don't know about UMASS and South Alabama. If they're over the 63 limit, then they should not receive votes either.

Well, the thing is that UMass is also not allowed the CAA prize or the post season and I think I saw a UMass dude say they were over but even if not the CAA & the NCAA must see some advantage that they don't allow them in.

South Alabama I really don't know about but I'd have to assume the same rules apply there.

AGS got some push back for not including these teams in our list because polls like TSN were doing so but I'm also not convinced that is correct to have them on there if they have an advantage.

At the very least, any team that announces they are moving to FBS, theoretically has a recruiting advantage and therefore should not be eligible for conference titles or post-season play. What I never understood was DII teams moving up and not being eligible. What's the basis for that rule?

The lower academic standards in DII perhaps? You could have players on transitional teams that would not have qualified for DI competition.

Transitionals from D-II to FCS are eligible for this poll, and most polls as they count as a D-I win/loss after that horrible 1st year of transition. Further, the FCS transitionals are not going to exceed the 63 schollie maximums. Therefore, they count. Likewise, just because a school announces their intentions to move to FBS, if their actual schollies for the year are < 63, then they should still be eligible.

IIRC, USA, UMass, Tx St, are beyond 63 schollies offered this season, therefore, not eligible. UTSA, like Lamar, Ga St, ODU is a start-up, and not playing a sufficient # of D-I programs in this season.
