I dont have stat books in front of me, but if memory serves, the year Gretzky shattered the scoring record with over 200 points, the runner up had something like 120 points...
That would be akin to an NFL back running for 3500 yards, a major leaguer hitting .460 or having 110 home runs....or someone running a 3minute mile....Wayne was just amazing....

In the stick and ball sports i would say Shaq was the most dominant i ever saw from '98-'03. Dominance to me is someone who can't be stopped. Jordan is the best bball player talent wise.

I second the vote for Wayne Gretzky. What he did in hockey has no parallel among other team sports. More importantly, he put up numbers AND he was a winner.
