End of 1st quarter. Monmouth 10, CCSU 0. Third and 4 from the CCSU 38 coming up.

aceinthehole
September 24th, 2011, 12:32 PM
Monmouth very impressive first quarter. They are spreading out and moving the ball well without much resistance from CCSU. Their defense is putting up enough pressure to prevent CCSU from making much progress.

Monmouth up 10-0 end of the 1Q with the ball.

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 12:35 PM
Horse collar tackle on CCSU. MU 1st and goal.

aceinthehole
September 24th, 2011, 12:36 PM
UGH! Monmouth is very physical and is pounding the ball at CCSU. We need to make some adjustments ASAP!

Monmouth 17, CCSU 0

Julian Hayes up the middle for 7 yards for a TD. 17-0 Monmouth. 12:59 left in the 2nd quarter. Ace, your announcers said you are on a 15 game home winning streak. Was the MU game from a few years ago your last home loss?

No, CCSU's last home loss was to Albany on the final game of the 2007 season.

CCSU is currently tied with Grambling for the longest active home winning streak in FCS at 15 games.

Monmouth forces a 3 and out. Excellent punt by CCSU 1st and 10 MU at the 18 yd line.

Okay. Really impressed with the video feed on your website. The announcers mentioned it but didn't say who was the last loss to.

CCSU looks like they weren't ready to play this game at all.

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 12:46 PM
And Monmouth makes its first mistake. Monmouth deep inside CCSU territory fumbles and recovered by CCSU at their own 16.

New website and streaming this year - much improved.

I wouldn't say CCSU wasn't ready to play. I think MU is doing some very different things, that we didn't scheme or prepare for.

I fully agree MU is dominating the game so far, but CCSU is excellent at making adjustments at the half. We need to hold MU to 17 by the half, because I think this is still going to be a close game in the end.

Fumble recover, and finally a first down for CCSU. We need this positive momentum change right now. Points on this drive would be fantastic.

After losing 2 years ago, I know that all too well. Monmouth blew a 20-0+ lead 2 years ago up at Arute Field.

Central at the 32 yard line.

JMG1MON

Central having lots of problems with their center today. 3rd bad snap of the game forces a 2nd and long

CCSU - TD. Great drive for Central. Really changed the momentum. Need to hold the Hawks for the last minutes of the 1st half.

Monmouth - 17
CCSU - 7

Blue Devils will get the ball to start the 2nd half.

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 01:04 PM
OMG! Are you kidding me? Why sit on the ball 2nd and 1 at the 39 yard line with 1:10 left on the clock? 17 points is not going to be enough to win this game!!!!!!!

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 01:05 PM
Central hasn't stopped us all day (sans the fumble) and now you waste an opportunity to get into field goal range or maybe even the chance to bust one for a TD?

aceinthehole
September 24th, 2011, 01:09 PM
Wow! Monmouth doesn't try to move the ball and heads into half with a 10 point lead.

That last drive really changed the momentum of the game. CCSU forced a fumble deep in Blue Devils territory as Monmouth was driving to go up 20 or 24 points.

CCSU goes 84 yards in 17 plays (7:16 minute drive) to get their first score and cut the lead to a very managebale 10 points.

This is going to be a close game!

aceinthehole

CCSU forces a punt. Central takes over at their own 19, down by a TD with 7:10 left in the 3Q.

JMG1MON

Jespersen overthrows Baker for what would have probably been 6. Baker had 2 guys beaten by a good 2 steps.

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 01:47 PM
Central should just ask for it to be 3rd and long, since MU hasn't stopped it all season long!!

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 01:49 PM
geez, teams a combined 12-21 on 3rd down, 1-1 on 4th.

aceinthehole
September 24th, 2011, 01:49 PM
We need to get a few yards on 1st and 2nd down. 3rd and long is a recipe for disaster.

Great punt by CCSU! Hawks pinned deep in their own end.

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 01:50 PM
Monmouth forces a punt, MU ball 1st and 10 at their own 11 yardline. Need a score here.

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 01:55 PM
Monmouth inside the 50 but on 2nd and 4 Frazier underthrows Pollard for a huge gainer. He makes up for it by hitting Pollard for the 1st down on 3rd down

Agreed. Too much time on the clock. Plus we didn't have great punt pressure

JMG1MON
September 24th, 2011, 02:25 PM
Wow, bad luck for CCSU. Fowler breaks through and has nothing but daylight and pulls up with some sort of quad or hamstring injury.

aceinthehole
September 24th, 2011, 02:25 PM

Thanks, it would have been a great ending if he scores that TD. But you guys EARNED a very good league win on the road. NEC race is still wide open.

I wish you guys tons of luck vs. Colgate, but we need you to lose 2 NEC games :)

CCSU is going to get every opponents best effort - and that's the way it should be.

Some people have been saying that this is a "down" year for the NEC, but even if it is, this season will be tremendously competitive and exciting to the end.

Actually this might be a decent year for the NEC. But as the last few seasons have shown - a lot of parity in the league!
