Because I was interested in looking at the OOC schedules for all NEC teams, this is what I found:
Albany - @ Lehigh (PL), vs. Fordham (PL), @ Delaware (A-10), @ Cornell (Ivy)
Central Conn. St. - vs. Marist (MAAC), @ Georgia Southern (SoCon), @ Southern Conn. (DII), @ St. Peter's (MAAC)
Monmouth - @ Fordham (PL), vs. LaSalle (MAAC), vs. St. Peter's (MAAC), @ Colgate (PL)
Robert Morris - @ Dayton (PFL), vs. Duquesne (MAAC), @ Butler (PFL), vs. Rowan (DIII)
Sacred Heart - vs. Lafayette (PL), @ Marist (MAAC), vs. Iona (MAAC), @ Duquesne (MAAC)
Saint Francis PA - vs. St. Peter's (MAAC), @ Delaware State (MEAC), @ Duquesne (MAAC), vs. LaSalle (MAAC)
Stony Brook - vs. Hofstra (A-10), @ Georgetown (PL), @ New Hampshire (A-10), @ Massachusetts (A-10)
Wagner - vs. LaSalle (MAAC), @ Iona (MAAC), @ St. Peter's (MAAC), vs. Marist (MAAC)
Top games:
Albany @ Delaware
Central Conn. St. @ Georgia Southern
Monmouth @ Colgate
Sacred Heart vs. Lafayette
St. Francis PA @ Delaware State
Stony Brook @ New Hampshire
Vs. non-DI:
Central Conn. St. @ Southern Conn. St. (DII)
Robert Morris vs. Rowan (DIII)
Anyone want to post this info for their conference? :hurray:

Could it be any more clear who's serious about upgrading football and who has zero interest?
Serious:
Albany - @ Lehigh (PL), vs. Fordham (PL), @ Delaware (A-10), @ Cornell (Ivy)
Stony Brook - vs. Hofstra (A-10), @ Georgetown (PL), @ New Hampshire (A-10), @ Massachusetts (A-10)
On the fence:
Central Conn. St. - vs. Marist (MAAC), @ Georgia Southern (SoCon), @ Southern Conn. (DII), @ St. Peter's (MAAC)
Monmouth - @ Fordham (PL), vs. LaSalle (MAAC), vs. St. Peter's (MAAC), @ Colgate (PL)
Sacred Heart - vs. Lafayette (PL), @ Marist (MAAC), vs. Iona (MAAC), @ Duquesne (MAAC)
No interest:
Robert Morris - @ Dayton (PFL), vs. Duquesne (MAAC), @ Butler (PFL), vs. Rowan (DIII)
Wagner - vs. LaSalle (MAAC), @ Iona (MAAC), @ St. Peter's (MAAC), vs. Marist (MAAC)
Saint Francis PA - vs. St. Peter's (MAAC), @ Delaware State (MEAC), @ Duquesne (MAAC), vs. LaSalle (MAAC)
It's just so... stark. You really have to wonder if CCSU, Monmouth, and (to a lesser extent) Sacred Heart might just decide to leave the NEC entirely. Those "bottom three" really drag the rest down in a big way. Also, it's easy to see why Albany and SB want out.

Well, that wasn't exactly my point. First, SBU is still in the NEC this season and Albany hasn't made it official yet, so for now they still play in the NEC, but there is no doubt that both their schedules are the toughest in the NEC.
Second, that's just for this season. Stony Brook's schedule upgrade is recent. CCSU and Monmouth both had tougher schedules than SBU in years past. Here's a recent review of NEC in "up games" over the past few years:
Albany
2006: @ Lehigh, vs. Fordham, @ Delaware, @ Cornell
2005: vs. Hofstra, @ UMass @ Maine, @ Fordham
2004: @ Hofstra, vs. Fordham, @ Brown, @ Lehigh
2003: @ Northeastern, vs. Brown, @ Towson
2002: @ Montana, @ Florida International
Central Conn. St.
2006: @ Georgia Southern
2005: @ Colgate, vs. Rhode Island
2004: @ Rhode Island
2003: @ New Hampshire, @ UMass
2002: @ Maine @ UMass
Monmouth
2006: @ Fordham, @ Colgate
2005: @ Lehigh
2004: vs. Georgetown
2003: @ Georgetown
2002: @ Lafayette, @ Morgan State, vs. Towson
Stony Brook
2006: vs. Hofstra, @ Georgetown, @ New Hampshire, @ UMass
2005: vs. Bucknell, @ Hofstra, vs. Georgetown
2004: @ Lehigh, vs. Hofstra
2003: @ Georgetown
2002: none
Sacred Heart
2006: vs. Lafayette
2005: @ Holy Cross
2004: none
2003: none
2002: none
NEC Champions
2005: Stony Brook/CCSU
2004: Monmouth/CCSU
2003: Monmouth/Albany
2002: Albany
Anyway, the point really was that all NEC teams (but RMU and Wagner) have scheduled at least 1 "up game" this year. I mean give credit to SFPA for taking on a scholly team, even if its "only" Delaware State.
Plus, their are just 2 games vs. non-DI opponents, something very few I-AA conferences can claim. The CCSU/SCSU game is a revival of one of the longest played DII rivalries and its for the "Governor's Cup" in Connecticut. Southern Conn made the DII playoffs last season and has an explosive offense. And RMU vs Rowan is a not a bad game. Rowan is a premire DIII program in the East.
I guess I was just trying to open some eyes on this board to the progress of the NEC. I truly think they all are making strides (some bigger than others), and may begin to compare closely with some traditional I-AA conferences like the Big South, OVC, or others. That's why I was interested in seeing what some other OOC schedules look like :)

Oh, I grew up around Southern Conn - my intent was not to bust on CCSU for playing them. I think it's absolutely fine to play no more than 1 sub-D-I a year, especially if it's a local rivalry like CCSU/SCSU.
But you've got to admit, the gap between playing 3 A-10 schools (1 playoff team, and two top-25 GPI teams) OOC and playing 4 MAAC schools is pretty stark. If Albany or SB goes undefeated, they will be in excellent shape to get an at-large bid. If Wagner goes undefeated, they won't even crack the top-40 GPI. There's a big difference.

2006 Big Sky Conference OOC schedule:
Montana: @ Iowa, South Dakota St. Cal Poly
Montana St: @ Colorado, UC Davis, Humboldt St.
EWU: @ Oregon St. @ West Virginia, Central Washington
Idaho St.: @ UNLV, Fort Lewis, @ Idaho
NAU: @ Arizona St., @ Utah, Dixie College
Weber: @ Colorado St., Cal Poly, Southern Utah
PSU: @ New Mexico, @ Cal, @ Oregon
Sac St: @ Boise St., Cal Poly, @ UC Davis
UNC: UC Davis, @ Texas St., Western Illinois
13 Division I-A games
8 games against GWFC teams
4 sub-division I games
UNC must have one of the most difficult schedules for anyone who plays all divions I-AA teams this season. Overall, teams in the Sky have a pretty decent set of OOC games.

We also play at Texas Tech. I agree New Mexico St is probably the biggest non-conference game for the reason you mention but I'm also looking forward to playing Southern Miss. They used to be a big rival of ours back in the 50s and 60s and the schools are less than two hours apart. USM will be a big favorite obviously but if we can go into Hattiesburg and hold our own, I think it will bode well for us in league play.

Where did you grow up in New Haven? I'm from Milford. I think one of the Yale posters here is a more "elder statesman" from Milford than I am.
I personally loved going to the CCSU-SCSU games as a kid. My dad was good friends with the president at Southern, and we'd go down to Bowen Field and watch the games when both were D-II schools.

Unfortunately, absent a few upsets, I only see 7 or 8 wins out of those 27 games. Tough slate.
There aren't going to be any undefeated BSC teams heading into conference play...not much of a stretch to come to that conclusion.
And no, as much of a Griz homer as I am, I don't see the Griz waltzing into Kinnick Stadium and shocking the Hawkeyes--although I think the Griz will be very good this year. I'm just hoping for a good showing against Iowa.

Obviously hoping and praying from a homer stance, how good are the Hawkeyes supposed to be this year? I mean, if they're picked middle of the road and the gods of football shine their magic lights, maybe there's a chance if God intervenes. My fear is that they're supposed to be good, which takes all hope out of it.
And if that's not asking the question with humility, then I don't know what is...

Yah, Iowa is supposed to be good. They're ranked around 20-25 in most of the preseason polls, but thats not entirely unbeatable for a I-AA like Montana. It'd only be a tad larger of an upset then when App knocks off NC State come Sep. 2nd. :D
Keep the spirits up, they are no Texas.

They lost quite a bit from last year too, most notably WRs and LBs.
