On top of being named the CAA Football Rookie of the Week, redshirt freshman cornerback Kirk Nelms was also named The Sports Network FCS National Rookie of the Week on Monday. Nelms had a pair of interceptions on Saturday in the win over Rhode Island including one returned 80 yards for a pivotal fourth quarter touchdown.
