National Performer of the Week: Kyle Harbridge (St. Francis-PA)
...snip
So others won't have to look it up: 30 carries, 346 yards, 4 touchdowns. 11.5 yard average per rush. Makes getting first downs pretty darned easy, eh? Oh, and he had four receptions for 52 yards (and another TD), just missing a four hundred yard game.
Hard to argue against that!
Edit: Oh, and for good measure, he ALSO had 2 kick returns for 59 MORE yards - so four or five carries away from 500 yards by himself.

He also recovered a fumble on the St. Francis 26 yard line when Morehead State was up 49-44. The next possession was the go-ahead, game winning TD.

Presbyterian defender Justin Bethel finished with 2 touchdowns against (Pac-16) member california. Not a bad day when your DB basically scores all your points. Bethel won CFPA Defensive Performer of the Week.

SIDs don't nominate players since it's stat-based.

Huh ... not even an honorable mention for Dae'Quan Scott's 120 yards and 3 TDs on the road at liberty? You'd think the CAA Player of the Week would get at least an honorable mention. Whatever this website is ... no credibility in my eyes.

What, no category for best idle player of the week? Seems like they have every other possible category.

I think there should be an honorable mention for the SIDs at the 28 schools that participate in the coaches poll for demonstrating that they are unable to differentiate quality teams or fill out a form.

No offensive linemen. No kickoff specialist either as is case with FBS.

A couple of years ago a SOCON SID failed to fill out an NCAA form for hosting a baseball game. The game was then played on the road instead of home. How this person kept a job is beyond me.

Same with the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week (John Kanongata'a - 12 tackles and game-saving interception), though Weber's David James (one 74 yard pick six) did. Seems... odd.

Maybe it was the 4.3 yards per carry. A little fan bias, no?;)

Lum to Spadola the best qb-wr combo in the country?
alvinkayak6
September 19th, 2011, 11:31 PM
Just my opinion but it is certainly looking like Lum-Spadola is a TRIANGLE hot route on PS3 on Varsity level right now. What other combos could you list up there? Maybe Mike Brown-Chris Summers (Liberty) and DeAndre Presley-Brian Quick (App State). Again, I do not see a lot of options, so I'm going to say "Lum-Spadola" is #1 combo with you.

Lum to Spadola the best wr combo in the country?
Very well could be. Having Jake Drawl in the mix to enables teams to not solely key on Spadola. Having spent the 2008-2010 seasons working with the HC football team, I'd say that this year's Lehigh offense rivals what Holy Cross with DR.

Uh-huh... and how did he do vs NDSU?
alvinkayak6
September 19th, 2011, 11:43 PM
Looks like 56 offensive yards in that game (41, 15) vs. NDSU. NDSU's RB Sam Ojuri had 150+ yards (13.8 per carry).

D.J. McNorton should win a ton of these if he gets back int he lineup.

Holy Cross has a really good team right now and seems to be on the rise. They played well against Umass and soundly beat Colgate. I think they deserve a serious look if they don't beat Lehigh or win the Patriot League.

This is probably the most complete team that Gilmore has had while coaching at HC. An at large bid may come down to whether HC is able to knock off UNH. With a 9-2 record and the only losses coming to UMASS and Lehigh, they'd unquestionably get an at large to the playoffs.

Yes. Yes he does. They sometimes take a while to read but are almost always amusing (like maybe 200 of the 16,600 posts or so aren't entertaining in some way).

Good combo for sure, but thee's something to be said for throwing to 11 DIFFERENT receivers in a game, which is what happened with the Murray State QB over the weekend. Nine different guys had 3 or more receptions. How in the heck does a DC prepare for that?

Ask Louisville maybe? They shut down the passing attack, but RB Mike Harris picked up a bit in the second half. RB Mike Harris is actually the top draft prospect on the team right now -- not Casey Brockman, Dontrell Johnson, or Kienan Cullen, according to NFL Draft Scout & CBS Sports.

It would be nice to have an O-Line category. Weber had four running backs acquire 50 yards of rushing, all of which ran over 7 yards a carry.

I second that. They are very important. Imagine St. Francis RB Kyle Harbridge running behind Wisconsin O-Line playing in the Big South. He'd have 650 rushing yards per game on 12 carries!
Will they ever keep stats for the big fuglies besides fumble recoveries and penalties? NCAA should keep stats on pancakes just the same -- my NCAA '10 (I'm old I know) keeps pancake stats.

That line reminds me of Anthony Morales' game line for Weber, but he did it in 2 and a half quarters. Too bad a groin injury did him in.

Of course Harris is the top NFL prospect since he's a senior. Harris is a true talent, orignally signed by Arkansas by slipped out of site in JUCO due to grade issues. Johnson has been injured and played sparingly. Brockman is a junior and played poorly, by his own admission, vs. UL. There were some drops by receivers in that game too. Other important considerations? New OC that has taken a couple games to get his rhythm and with many new receivers it takes a while to get everyone in sync. Looks like that's finally happening. So, you want to stop the NFL-prospect RB or the wide open passing game?

7-1 in OVC (just figure they'll stumble once and fairly even conference); first-round game in playoffs

And to be fair to Murray State, the Louisville game was week 1, nationally televised, road game, BCS opponent which just beat UK (SEC team). Passing game often takes time to gel, yada yada yada. Some teams also just start slow (cough* Oregon State).
At any rate, I would like to see Harris get picked up by an NFL team for a fall camp. His early numbers aren't too impressive. If the team gets into the playoffs, maybe he will have some big games, increasing the chance he gets noticed. There is always an element of luck. Like if you go to UMass, maybe a Patriots coach develops a crush on you. Just saying. xcoffeex

U must be teeming with pride. Princeton Tigers looking like they are going to win some games. Charbonneau wins national kick returner of the week, and two kickers honored. In general, Ivy football is up.
