Resolution
Appalachian State University Board of Trustees
Whereas at its September 24 2010 meeting the Appalachian State University Board of Trustees (the “Board”) instructed Appalachian State University (the “University”) to engage in a feasibility study to evaluate the University’s football program and the merits of repositioning it’s football program to the Football Bowl Subdivision
Whereas the University created the Appalachian State University Feasibility Committee (the “Committee”) and studied and evaluated the benefits of such repositioning.
Whereas the Committee has finished the evaluation and has recommended the Mountaineer football program move to the Football Bowl Subdivision when the board identifies the appropriate opportunity.
Whereas the Board recognized that given the current landscape of NCAA intercollegiate athletics such an opportunity will require rapid evaluation and response.
Now therefore let it be resolved that
1: the Board wishes to thank the Committee for its thoughtful evaluation and study of the issue.
2: The Executive Committee is hereby requested to work with the Chancellor and administration to evaluate any such opportunity and bring a recommendation to the Board for action.
