Chris Kuper (North Dakota) is the top small school Guard and the only one invited to the Indy Combine (Boothe went as an OT) and is an easy 4th-6th round choice and will go way ahead of almost all these other linemen.

I undrstand it is based on team needs but Jason Hatcher should be the first D1AA player chosen.

Ralph please don't bring up any sportsnetwork awards anymore...they are tarnished/slanted/fixed. I suggested to Matt that he remove all Grambling related coaches/players names from any awards associated with that group. It is a joke.

I undrstand it is based on team needs but Jason Hatcher should be the first D1AA player chosen.

Hatcher is not making the rounds like CP's Gocong. You may think one way or another about Hatcher's ability, but the fact is, he's actually fallen a round or two in the last few weeks while Gocong is one of the fastest rising players on the board. The fact that Gocong has worked out with quite a few NFL teams must mean something he is doing is right and while I may have thought someone else would've been drafted first originally, I think Gocong may very well be the first I-AAer.

Hatcher could end up being third behind Gocong and McQuistan...maybe fall even further based on Bethea passing him up in recent weeks too.

FACTS:
From the Grambling Fan Website:
Jason has already worked out for Jacksonville, KC , Miami, New Orleans and Cincinatti in Grambling.

Jason's upcoming scheduled workouts:
Monday 17th @ Dallas
Tuesday 18th @ Atlanta
Wednesday 19th @ New Orleans

I'm not even presenting a bias view one way or another here. I'm just presenting the facts from I-AA.org and the pay-site that I am a member of.

I can show you sites that have Hatcher ranked above Gocong. xcoffeex
BTW...Hatcher has only been playing DE for about two years. He was recruited and was previously a Tight End.

Provide linksReally, rising or falling in the draft is subjective. But stats are earned against opponents that can be ranked and Gocong clearly has faced much tougher competition and done better. He "should be" taken before Hatcher. Good luck to both of these young men.

According to ...... That is equally subjective

Cocong will be drafted as a linebacker not a DE.

I am not going to go back and forth about this....

This mentions your LB talk right here, Mach...

While Gocong was in the same 5-6 range that Hatcher was (and still is in), Gocong has moved up. In fact overall, Hatcher is rated 16th while Gocong is rated 10th at the position...

Rising (from a pay-site that I subscribe to):

DE Chris Gocong, Cal Poly - Gocong was once a 5th-6th round type prospect but has now moved into the 3rd-4th round range on most boards. His 4.7 speed has teams giving him a much harder look and his stock is being reflected in that. A collegiate defensive end, Gocong is exciting to scouts because of his versatility and potential to line up at either end or outside linebacker.

Mach,

Grambling played a tougher schedule than Cal Poly? I find that hard to believe especially since the GPI of the SWAC was lower than the GWFC. Cal Poly's was 7th while Grambling was 25th...

Which top offenses did Grambling face this year? Cal Poly faced Montana (twice), Texas St-San Marcos, Montana St and Eastern Washington. That's a tough schedule with four games against three teams that went to the I-AA playoffs.

I'm not even presenting a bias view one way or another here. I'm just presenting the facts from I-AA.org and the pay-site that I am a member of. I could care less about Gocong and Hatcher. In fact, I've been higher on Hatcher since day one of the post-IAA season because I want the Texans to draft him...

I would love to see the Pack take GoCong. They need a D end, and he is a great one, especially since a team can get him in a lower round. Hope he can get used to those cold winters up on the tundra.:smiley_wi

I'll weigh in here...

1. Did someone delete all their post's?

2. Performance againest quality competition is more important than just plain size.

3. The NFL does draft based on potential, however you have to have had shown some quality play on the field againest quality opponents more than once or twice..

4. According to Mel Kiper's draft report, he has Chris Cogong going at #75 overall in the 3rd rd to new england... He has David Pittman going earlier at #68 to the 49ers and the first I-AA player taken... Hatcher is not in his 4 rd mock draft..

I have about 10 different draft books just arriving and will give a full I-AA breakdown this weekend.
