They're on roll! Juiced by three homers in the first inning the Fightin's jumped out to leads of 5-1 and 7-3--but barely held on to beat the Braves for their second straight win. Definitely showed the offensive muscle everyone expects of this lineup, but the pitching almost gave it up, again, this time with Franklin doing a meltdown in the 8th.

Yep, Franklin was throwing meatballs up there. Even the outs were hit hard. I must say, though, that I've been impressed with Gordon so far - he has been throwing some nasty stuff up there. Lastly, Fasano sucks as a #2 catcher. That ball that got by him on the first strikeout in the ninth was an easy ball to block. Fasano just got lazy on it.

Sports Center jokingly (I think it was jokingly) said the Phillies are finally finding their stride. :rotateh:

Yeah, I was listening on the radio and the announcers couldn't understand what had happened and why the ball got by him.
As for the radio--we in the Lehigh Valley do not get CN8, which seems to be doing a fair number of spring games for the Phils. This sucks.

What provider do you have? I remember one year at Lafayette we thought the same thing, but SE put the CN8 games on another channel just during the time the games were broadcast, we just kinda stumbled across it one night...I think it only happens early in the year due to conflicts with the Flyers/Sixers...

We have RCN and I scouted up and down the listing with the clicker. You are right that due to schedule conflicts with the Flyers and Sixers, the Phils get shunted somewhere else until summer.

Don't forget, Jimmy Rollins' hit streak is now at six!!!!

Starting tomorrow, after he hits safely tonight, I'll start a thread dedicated to his hit streak!!1
(Note: I never said "if!")

Sorrry MG, Jimmy took the collar in Colorado last night:( . The Fightin's still put 10 on the board with Utley's grand slam leading the way. This time is was Santana's turn to melt down in the 8th. This is startng to sound repetitious....

Remember '92 when Schilling and Mulholland (can you believe that guy is STILL in the majors???) had a combined 25 or so complete games? About half those CG's were losses. Their bullpen was so attrocious that Fregosi would rather let Curt or Terry bat in the 7th or 8th inning than risk letting a close game turn into a rout.

We called the entire Phillies bullpen "Kerosene" that year!

Geary's turn tonight. Lieber pitched okay and Cormier came in to get Helton and looked sharp. Then we have the BS go with the percentages and bring in the righty to pitch to a rh batter. Bam-bam-bam. Just like that Phils trail 9-4.
Drives me nuts. If these guys are good enough to be in the majors they should be able to get a rh batter out...:splat:
