Lets try and keep this civil.
Why do people from the Southland, and elsewhere, really not like SFA?
Is it the fans?
Is it the players/coach?
What?

The more teams have had something important riding on games they play, the more intense the fans are. McNeese-SFA fans are in that category. But, hey, I like the RevSFA just fine. We already have a little wager on this year's game because he and I put up or shut up.
Now that I think about it, I don't think anyone in the SLC likes McNeese. Dennis Franchione is a good reason to not like Texas State as they ride off into the Wacky sunset.

Clarify that. Is that they won 82-6, or is it that they kept trying to go for 2?
I'm not in any way, shape, or form defending going for 2, but if the third string offense is out there, let them run the offense.

Fans aren't the issue, I went down there when NDSU played them 5 years ago, and they were great people. Don't like the coach for having them wallowing on the field at A&M, chucking the ball all over the place when up by 50-60 points, and the going for 2 against a bunch of high schoolers. I know SFA is a pass first team, but eventually they will find themselves in the position where the passing game either isn't working or not an option for some reason. What better time to work on contingency running game plans?

This is a multi-year argument. This has been discussed ad nauseum for two years running.

Having only been in the SLC for a short time, I've seen some of the strangest things I've ever seen in football thanks to SFA. (2008 being the strangest with the conference title)
1. SFA players faking injuries on the field.
2. SFA running up the scores on d3 squads.
3. SFA dominate conference and get blown out in the playoffs.
4. SFA go defeated in 2007.
5. That "lumberjack" ...um..enough said. xlolx
I have to say SFA brings alot to the table. xlolx I don't hate them..maybe one day I will. :D

I must have slept through that...
J.C. Harper's not a bad coach, but he has a tendancy to display a complete and total lack of class at times...and, I think you've seen that carry over to his squads....
The 4-2-Fake-a-cramp defense, running up the score, etc.,
Aside from sharing the conference title in 2009 and winning it outright in 2010, SFA hasn't done much since the late 80's, when they made a deep run in the playoffs, which they had to later forfeit because they used ineligile players...
Basically, they have a year or two of relevance every two or three decades.
I don't hate them, I simply have a lot of disdain for them and eschew the notion that they're the powerhouse they fancy themselves to be.
Props on Moses winning the Payton, though....

I don't hate SFA. I don't particuarly like Coach Harper but the rest of the SFA bunch is ok. We had a few good games in the 90's one of which resulted in our McNeese flag not being run around the field after a touchdown anymore. I think the McNeese-SFA game is one that I look forward to almost every year.

I don't think people hate them...
McNeese fans didn't really fancy their previous HC Mike Santigo for a bunch of reasons. He was once a McNeese OC.
SFA's current HC is also a former McNeese assisstant, and is really a funny guy. He does some strange things, but all in all, I don't think they are hatted.
Now Texas State... Their A-hole students does it enough for me.
I can't wait for them to be gone for good and begin loosing their @$$ forever.

Actually I've got two stories about run ins with sam fans involving basketball, but in 2004 you guys came to our JC and got beat. After the game some of your fans tried to start **** with myself and some others in the parking lot. The other story involves me going to your JC and some quality fans starting **** in the bathrooms.
Note: I don't lump all of your fans into the trashy category, like you love to do with SFA, but y'all do have some classless fans, like we do,and y'all have some good fans, like we do

I have never heard about fights at any games caused by fans, though I'm sure it happens and I am sorry for.
However, we are on the reasons people don't like SFA so get back to the fighting on the field. You have to admit that was a cheap shot in 2004 that started that brawl.
And you aren't too bad yourself Rev, maybe if I can hold my temper we can have a "beverage" at the BOTPW. ;)

Pretty opinionated there bk. What about when the other team is an extremely overmatched lower division non-scholly team? I guess you just want to put the pedal to the floor and score 100 on em. If so, apply at SFA for a coaching job, you should fit right in.

I take it you are not up on SFA's coach and his history. Going for 2 when the game is WELL out of reach does not show much class at all.Throwing bombs when it is out of reach is even lower. Seems like that would be a good time to practice a non existing running game wouldn't it? I have no problem with SFA other than their coach. I enjoy going to their stadium and the bike ride getting there is an awesome. I have never had any problem with their fans at their stadium. Hell, they even let me go to the front of the line at Starbucks after the game last time we was there and lost :)
