The newest member of I-AA (non-scholly and automatically with one of the nation's coolest nicknames): the Campbell University Fighting Camels!

Welcome Camels:)

Funny, there is a high school in Wyoming called the Campbell County Fighting Camels. That is a great nickname.

I am sure they would like to be in the PFL but why not join the Big South? The chance at an AQ would come by 2010!

They don't want to pay for the scholarships. I wish they would consider the Big South as well.

Word is Campbell was an original member of BSC and didn't leave under great terms. The Camels had a problem with contests on Sunday.

Do I sense another problem here---with the federal government getting involved? Allow this to happen and some school is going to call themselves the "Lucky Strikes" or "Marlboros"....:D

Like you Rocky I am a big fan of Camels and their toes. But I believe we could "lick" this team any time they want to play us.

Some news on Campbell regarding a coach being named and a move to the Pioneer...

The additions will not affect Campbell’s plans to join the Division I-AA nonscholarship Pioneer Football League as a football-only member. Campbell last month announced it would add the sport in 2007. But because the Atlantic Sun does not sponsor football, the Camels will need a conference to call home.

“The affiliation we’re going to be a part of with football, really it has no ties with the Atlantic Sun,” Williamson said. “We’re hoping to move ahead with the Pioneer League in football.”
----------------
On the football front, Williamson said Campbell could announce its first head coach in mid- to late-June.

When the school made the football plans public last month, officials said they hoped to have a coach in place by the end of the summer.
