View Full Version : 2011 Southern Conference Power Rankings and Predictions - Preseason.

A few days until the start of the season means it's that time. This is based on what I have heard in the preseason. Without further ado, here we go:

1. Appalachian State - King of the SoCon mountain until someone proves otherwise.
2. Georgia Southern - Team I believe is most likely to make it to the top of the perch.
3. Wofford - Could return to the playoffs this year.
4. Chattanooga - They have room to grow and I see them in the playoffs this year.
5. Furman - May not make the playoffs this year but could ruin the chances of someone in the top four.
6. Elon - This team may have a tough time this season.
7. The Citadel - Can they have a breakthrough season?
8. Western Carolina - Will they erase the bad memories of last season?
9. Samford - Thank a certain member in the SU community for this one.

Predictions
No brainers
Western Carolina @ Georgia Tech
Chattanooga @ Nebraska
Elon @ Vanderbilt
Georgia Southern @ Samford
Wofford @ Presbyterian

Not so no-brainers
Furman @ Coastal Carolina - This game will be a baptism by fire for Bruce Fowler.
Jacksonville @ The Citadel - This is not some second year program the Fish are facing.
Appalachian State @ Virginia Tech - Might watch this one and could be wrong on this one.

Without any smidgen of reservation, I can tell you that Samford will NOT be #9 this year.

I can tell you that Samford will NOT be #9 this year.

In a perfect world The Citadel would finish with a winless season, but we'll just settle for the norm--another losing record for their pathetic fan(s).

the gap between the top and the bottom is pretty wide. Seems like the top three are on another level

You sure we'll beat JU? They would be about dead center in the SoCon this year.
