Alcorn State, MS—With today being another scorcher on the Academic Reservation, the Braves donned pads and helmets with no problem and it was business as usual at practice. Today's focus is on the Running Backs, a key returnee for the group is Arnold Walker who had 10 carries for 80 yards during the 2010 season. Q: In your first few day of Fall practice, what are some significant changes that you have noticed in the Running Backs from Spring Practice ?A: Their tempo along with their expectations has become greater. They have really picked up on the system that will be installed this season. Q: Talk about the return of Arnold Walker and what he brings to the Running Backs?A: Walker brings a lot of leadership. He is a power back with great agility and great vision. He does a great job in assisting with young players. Q: In two words describe the running backs. Explain why you chose the words.A: Team-oriented because they work well together, and are not selfish. They push each other to get better. Q: What can Alcorn State football fans expect out of the running backs this season?A: Explosiveness, running backs who will take it the distance and great vision. Darius Matthews is a native of Clinton, Louisiana who attended Grambling State University. Matthews holds a B.S. in Business from Grambling State. While at Grambling, Matthews played under the legendary Coach Eddie Robinson and was a part of the 1989 SWAC Championship Team and the 1992 Sheridan Broadcasting Network (SBN) Champs. He is the father of Darius Jr., (20), Darryl (14) and Derilynn (12).
