In 2009, Wofford running back Eric Breitenstein played in just two games before injuring his knee. The Terriers went 3-8, their worst season in 22 years.
Last season, a healthy Breitenstein played in all 13 games, set a school record for rushing and led Wofford to a 10-3 record, a share of the Southern Conference title and to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.
There were a lot of reasons for the turnaround, but Wofford football coach Mike Ayers is not alone in seeing a correlation with the return of Breitenstein.
