After the winter season, Bucknell leads the overall All-Sports "Presidents Trophy" race, but it is competitive. Bucknell-71, Army-64, American-62,Lehigh-56,Navy-55,Colgate-50,Lafayette-45,Holy Cross-34

In the Men's competition, Lehigh leads with 31, followed by American-30, Navy-26, Lafayette-26, Bucknell-25, Army-24, Colgate-22, Holy Cross-15

In the Women's competition: Bucknell-46, Army-39, American-32, Navy-28, Colgate-28, Lehigh- 24, Lafayette-19, Holy Cross-18.

Can't help but notice the Crusaders sucking hind tit in all three categories.

Is football included with Army/Navy being IA?

Yes, Army and Navy just miss out on the ability to earn points in the competition. Some day they'll learn..

And as usual, Lafayete is tagging along in the rear.. men are usually in the middle, and the women usually at the end, leaving us in sum.. one up on abysmal Holy Cross.

Yeesh.. this will change.

This is kind of a B.S. trophy...

Bucknell wins almost every year, but they play 4 or 5 more sports than Army, Navy and American. I think on a per sport basis, all three of those schools outperform Bucknell...

I can say that feeling at Colgate pretty much agrees with this statement. I don't know the particulars, but winning the P.L. trophy is not high on our athletic department's goals. And I've also heard coaches say that for some reason Bucknell has got an advantage here.

Here are last year's standings, note the total # of sports in parenthesis
2004-05
President's Cup Final Standings
Institution Points1.Army (19)113.252.Bucknell (23)105.003.Lehigh (23)104.504.Navy (18)97.505.American (18)93.506.Colgate (22)80.757.Lafayette (22)59.258.Holy Cross (21)54.75

Not sure what the Colgate coaches are complaining about though - they're in the same range as Bucknell...

Not sure either, but I know I've heard it. I didn't understand it at the time either. Now that was about 3-4 years ago when I did. It could be two things:

Colgate's emphasis on hockey in the winter (but I know Lehigh is similar with wrestling) along with the other schools moving to scholarships at the time were possible concerns.

Anyone have a link to the listing of how points are determined? Maybe there is something there I can find...

No link, but if you go to the Patriot League website, I think they have an explanation. A sliding scale on number of points each team gets depending on finish in league in each sport.
