Thanks to the guys at UCAFans.com for supplying the below link on their site. For all those interested, UCA has their first of two major spring scrimmages tommorrow, Saturday at their stadium. This is the first major spring event for the team that is getting ready to head up to I-AA football and the Southland Conference. Best of luck to Coach Conque who has the task of bringing the Bears up to speed at the I-AA level after their deep run in the Div II playoffs this past year...

----------

The University of Central Arkansas will hold the first of two major spring football scrimmages at 3 p.m. Saturday at Estes Stadium.

It will be a controlled intrasquad scrimmage that will focus on various down-and-distance situations as well as open-field work. UCA coach Clint Conque said his coaching staff will be particularly looking a backup players who have the possibility of competing for frontline positions in the fall.

"One thing we are trying to accomplish is that the young people understand the thinking process in football situations," Conque said. "Football is not just first and second down. What you do on third down in various situations is important. There is also a thinking process to how you play and what you do coming off the goal, on the 10-yard line as well as third and long or short. Part of what we will do is go though some things we are expecting in different parts of the field, offensively and defensively."

There is no admission charge to the scrimmage and the public is invited.

The final spring football game will be Friday, April 7. at Estes Stadium.
