Penn State will open preseason practice Thursday afternoon with questions about its depth at quarterback.

Junior Kevin Newsome is leaving the program and likely will seek a transfer, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and 247sports.com are reporting. A team spokesman could not confirm Newsome's departure when contacted by ESPN.com.

I think Liberty is set there too...he picked an awful bad time to express a desire to transfer as teams are opening camp and working out their two deeps

Troy let Greg Jenkins go and Alabama State snatched him up. the rest of your programs missed out on him, he is one hell of a duel-threat guy.

His younger brother is a Spider, so you may see him in the Red and Blue. I'm not sure we need a QB, but if he can run routes and catch the ball we're diffienately interested.
