Weber State hired Utah assistant Randy Rahe to replace Joe Cravens as basketball coach, the school announced Thursday.
"The key is recruiting good players, good students and quality people; that's the formula for success, and that is what I plan to bring to Weber State University," Rahe said in a statement.
Rahe has been a longtime assistant in the state, coaching at Utah State and Utah under Stew Morrill and Ray Giacoletti, respectively.
"It's a great opportunity for Randy. We couldn't be happier for him," Giacoletti said.
Rahe replaces Joe Cravens, who was forced out after the season.
Rahe has been one of the most respected recruiters in the West and considered a rising star in the profession. Weber State has been a power broker in the Big Sky but has slipped recently with the rise of Northern Arizona and Montana in the conference.
