A truly sad day for Chattanooga fans. They are demolishing the last part of Chamberlain Field (South Stadium stands), home of the Mocs from 1908-1997. At the time of it's closing, it was said to be the 2nd oldest, on-campus stadium in the country.

They will keep the area an open green space (keeping the name "Chamberlain Field") for the new library. And they plan to re-use a lot of the brick and stone to build an archway into the area.

But still, it is sad to lose such a landmark in the Chattanooga area. That field saw literally hundreds of NFL players (home and away teams) over the decades (from Terry Bradshaw to Steve McNair to Terrell Owens...Johnny Unitas lost twice to the Mocs on Chamberlain Field)

...and hosted some of the bigger names of college football:

Alabama (0-1), Georgia (0-5-1), Georgia Tech (0-1), Louisiana Tech (2-4), Louisville (3-0), Memphis (4-4), Ole Miss (1-1), Mississippi State (0-2), Southern Miss (2-8), Tennessee (1-6-1), Vanderbilt (0-4), Virginia Tech (1-0), Wake Forest (0-1) (not to mention newer FBS programs like MTSU, North Texas, WKU, etc)

Of SoCon teams past and present (Current schools +VMI, ETSU, Marshall), only Furman and Georgia Southern had winning records at Chamberlain. Most notably, Marshall was only 2-8 at Chattanooga.
