I would be pretty happy if they got Flint. He's familiar with Philadelphia hoops having coached at Drexel and i believe he played at St. Joe's. He actually kept the Umass program afloat after Calipari left in '96, he certaintly did better than Lappas. I know Temple really wants to get a Philly guy and while i respect that to some extent they really should consider some other potential canadiates.
Some i would consider:
Billy Taylor-Yes Lehigh's coach. He's done a great job of rebuilding the LU program, although a re-dedication by the school has helped. He knows East Coast basketball and has a strong resume.
Fran Fraschilla-I'm not sure if he's interested in coaching again but he did a good job at St. John's. He knows how to recruit inner city kids, there was a 3-4 year run he jot some of NYC's most prominant recruits to stay in the city.
Gregg Marshall-Winthrop; He's turned Winthrop into a solid mid major program who should have beaten Tennessee in this years tourney. He's a 3time big sounth coach of the year and has averaged over 20 wins in seven years at the school. He also had good success at Marshall in the mid 90's. This guy seems like he's going to get a big time coaching job one day. With that said a guy comming from a school like Winthrop usually takes another step up to a more established program before they land at a BSC conference school.

I don't see Temple hiring a 'youngster' like Taylor. l believe they'll go with someone with a longer resume. Taylor will be there in the near future, but I don't see him at Temple.

The general consesus in Philly is that the new Temple coach ought to be a "Philly Guy." to that extent, I think Bruiser Flint is the most qualified. Yes, Dunphy has done a great job at Penn. However, the type of recruiting one does for Penn is drastically different than Temple. Drexel is much closer in that regard. Some may point out that Dunphy was Speedy Morris' recruiter at LaSalle, but I'll also point out that they played in the MAAC at that time. Flint has experience recruiting in the A-10 as an assistant at St. Joe's and head coach at UMass.
