The Detroit Lions parted ways with quarterback Joey Harrington on Monday after four turbulent seasons in which the former third overall draft pick went from franchise savior to fans' scourge....

...He will be replaced by Jon Kitna or Josh McCown, both former starters who agreed to terms in the last week.

...McCown, a former Sam Houston State player, likes Martz's offensive schemes and used to discuss them with Warner, whom he backed up last season in Arizona. Kitna, who sat behind Carson Palmer in Cincinnati the past two seasons, also has expressed his admiration for Martz's offense.

McCown needed to get the hell out of Arizona. The Cardinals and Dennis Green suck. I could see him flourishing in Martz's offense. He is a lot more mobile than Warner could ever be and much more durable. Kitna needs to throw it in. He is getting old. I could see him being the starter.:hurray:

I think McCown will win this one easily - he has a live arm and put up decent numbers even though playing for the Cardinals. Best thing was to get out of Arizona - Dennis Green may be a decent coach, but he's horrible with QB's - McCown could flourish in Detroit - definite potential in fantasy football also ;) .

Two questions. First, when did Bill Clinton take over as the HC of Detroit? Second, when did they start hiring children to play in the NFL?

probably the same time I started getting old. :D :(

McCown was ok, but never starting NFL QB material.

Funny...didn't he go like 8-9 as the starting QB for the Cards? That same Cardinals team that has had a losing record in recent years under every other starting QB? Had Green stuck with McCown he kept at .500 two years ago, they'd of gone to the playoffs since the NFC was awful that year...
