Well Temple sports finally hit rock bottom for the week as the Temple womens team lost their first round game to Hartford. The lady owls entered the year with a good chance to atleast make an elite 8 run, they were in the top 20 all year. However, Hartford got their first NCAA win in school history. This with Chaney's retirement, the guys NIT loss to Akron with less than 1,000 fans in attendance and baseballs 24-3 loss to Lehigh i hope we've hit rock bottom for 2006.

JMHO, but that really wasn't too big an upset today. I watched the game and Hartford demonstrated they could play defense and rebound with Temple. And they pounded the ball inside to significantly outscore Temple from the paint. They led a good portion of the game. In fact if they hadn't missed so many inside shots (a common plague in the women's game), they might have had a more comfortable win. Hartford did a terrific job bottling up Temple's star Dupree.
Don't forget that Temple lost earlier in the season at Stony Brook, the regular season #2 in America East. Stony Brook was also the only AE team to beat Hartford this season. Maybe too many of the Owls were reading those press clippings about getting to the elite eight!! They should have been paying attention that Hartford was an 11 seed and that America East had a pretty decent RPI this season (10th or 11th IIRC).
