I like it a lot more than the current design. The contrast helps, and the way the light reflects differently off of the glossy light blue and the matte finish dark blue should make it pop under the lights.

I like the matte finish but I just don't like the ram horns. Just a personal taste but I see them around a lot.

Definite upgrade, but still ugly. I only like the horns on the St. Louis Rams. Nobody else should use that look, especially with URI colors. But the matte finish is pretty cool I think. Fwiw, I don't think URI will be in the NEC for too long, I think that the NEC and CAA North are going to combine for an Old Yankee Conference look w/o BU, NU, and Hofstra (Not sure what it will be called but I see it happening w/ Albany, CCSU, Stony Brook, and Monmouth having scholarships).

You could be right. When you look at some of the western conferences the footprint of the CAA isn't that huge, but UNH and Maine are sort of out on an island right now. With Fordham likely looking for a new home and some of the bigger NEC schools looking to expand beyond the NEC's scholarship limits there's probably room for a new Northeast football conference.

I thought one of the big reasons URI cited for their move was to save money on football scholarships though. URI is still more of a basketball school, but I think they could dominate in NEC football while spending a lot less than it takes to compete in the CAA.

Just a rumor.

URI had best uniforms in 1-AA in mid-80's.
They have constantly tinkered with them in both FB and BB-typically for the worse.
It takes more than new uni's.!
Put UD and UNH in hot pink and still same results!

Need to see it in action, but kneejerk reaction is it's an improvement. Outlining the horns in that darker shade of blue while keeping keaney blue or white as the primary color might have worked better, but I'd have to see it to know for sure. I think these uniforms below would also benefit from dark blue outlines around numbers and letters:

This helmet is a million times better than the lightblue with white horns. God that helmet must have been embarrassing to wear.
