That was incredible -- and the fact that Northwestern St. was given NO CHANCE by the press makes it that much sweeter.
Northwestern St. just delivered the knockout blow to my 1st round bracket

I almost wrecked when I heard that they won, what an upset!

Clearly the most exciting finish of the tourney so far!! Not even the OT games were better than the 3 pointer at the buzzer!!

That was fun to watch, but the best part was watching people in the newsroom in a state of shock that their bracket just got screwed!

Below is the link to the video. Fastforward to the end to see the shot. Amazing, I knew the outcome and still almost screamed at the end. INCREDIBLE SHOT!

I understand you don't like Billy Packer, which I completely comphrehend. The guy is an asshole.
But to say Iowa, Arkansas, and Oklahoma don't belong in the Dance is pathetic. Iowa lost to one insanely lucky shot. I think anyone watching saw that the Hawkeyes have superior talent and superior athletes, Northwestern State just got lucky. And let's be honest, a 8 seed losing to a 9 seed is in no way an upset. The only legitimate argument is Oklahoma. I mean...the Big XII just sucks. Oklahoma, Kansas...Texas and Texas A&M are sure to follow soon.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED seeing the "small guys" beat the almighty B(C)S teams, but to me saying they don't belong is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike.

"Superior talent and superior athletes" do not give up a double digit lead to an "inferior" team. I think the talent level between Iowa and Northwestern was closer than you seem to think. (although I will agree Iowa had the edge)

I was going to say the same thing. If Iowa had "superior" anything the game would have never been close enough for them to lose. Nw St is a forece to be reckoned with. They also have an advantage against their next opponent because they may not take them seriously and the Demons "inferior talent" could bite them in the ass.

Sorry you didn't understand my attempt at sarcasm. Of course they (Iowa, Arkansas and Oklahoma) all belong in the tournament, but it is victories by the little guys that makes March so special (14's beating 3's, 12's knocking off 5's, etc.)
What I dislike is the fact that the basketball know-it-alls (i.e. Packer) will go on record saying the tournament should be reserved for the 65 best teams ... from major conferences and that all the small schools should not waste their time even trying to get in. It's sort of the same way in football with the media focusing all their time and resources on the I-A schools (remember, a good chunk of the national media thinks I-AA is D-II or lower : smh :)
And for Iowa losing on an "insanely lucky shot," which I agree on, it should have never got that after the Hawkeyes, with their superior talent and superior athletes, blew a 17-point lead with 8 1/2 minutes left. :twocents:

I see what you guys are saying, I honestly do. And don't think I am trying to defend the Hawkeyes...because that is not the case, nor will it ever be.
But, I am just saying Northwestern State just played for it more. They deserved to win, without a doubt. But you get them to play Iowa again, and I see Iowa smoking them. Iowa has better players than Northwestern State, UNI, and Drake. But Northwestern State and UNI beat Iowa because we wanted it more, we played harder, and we got lucky sometimes. I'm not trying to discredit the demons, just trying to be realistic.
