Grambling assistant arrives 'fired up'
Beard promises to add spark to team
By Nick Deriso

GRAMBLING — New defensive line coach Brett Beard promises to bring a youthful spark to his work at Grambling State.

"I'm pretty fired up," said Beard, a 25-year-old Birmingham, Ala., native who still resembles the nickname given to him by his former teammates at Vanderbilt: Bull.

I'm Southern-born and Southern-bred, though," Beard said. "You know what Grambling is. Everybody does. To have to the opportunity to join that tradition is an honor."

Seems like a young coach with the fire and the intensity....

Could lead to a great career with Grambling being his lift to the next level...

Glad to see Brett :) in the coaching profession. Started his career at Vandy before ending up at Southeastern for his senior season (followed Woody Widenhofer who was Hal's defensive coordinator).

The guy was a beast on the field. Ended up playing in the Hula Bowl after finishing up with the Lions.
