Would AGS become the home of I-AA basketball if this happened? This guy is talking out of the wrong side of the mouth. I don't see it happening at all, though I do believe the NCAA is still working on how to change up the NIT, which could be a major boom or bust for mid-majors...

To even think that Hampton deserved a shot at the final 64-team field is ludicrous. The Pirates finished with a 15-17 overall record and a 292 RPI, but made the field of 65 by virtue of winning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament title. At least they lost to Monmouth in the play-in game, but Monmouth isn't much better with an RPI of 144.

Even Penn, with a decent record of 21-7, only had an RPI of 101 and lost to the University of Colorado by 18 early in the season. Still, even though Colorado beat Penn and had nearly the same record (20-9) in a tougher conference, the Buffs with an RPI of 59 were relegated to the NIT while Penn made the big show. Something is not right.

Why not devise a fair way for everyone. Those mid-major teams that don't make it to the NCAA Division I tournament could still be eligible for an NCAA I-AA tournament and their own national title.

That way, even the ugly stepsisters will get a shot at being Cinderella.

This is the most idiotic thing I've ever seen. Lets give the horrible teams a chance too. What kind of crap is that. Hampton showed what horrible teams do when they play better competition.

What an idiot. Look at all of the I-AA teams that have been in the top 25 this year - Villanova, Georgetown, Bucknell, UNI. How about trashing the terrible I-A basketball schools?
