Update from NCAA...

Cabinet members also accepted applications from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; the University of South Alabama; and Texas State University-San Marcos to begin a two-year reclassification from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Probably not the three some on here were hoping for.

I thought USA and Texas State had already been approved for FBS status. Or was this just some sort of rubber stamp that had to go throughh at this time?

It is a process... the NCAA makes most of their decisions regarding membership during the summer at all levels. The NCAA 'powers that be' just need to approve it. UTSA is a year behind and they'll be approved next year.
