What do the Shockers have to beat Seton Hall? or Tennesse/Winthrop for that matter? Any of you MVC folks have any insight?

I am pretty familiar with Seton Hall since they are the local team. They are kind of like a Jekyl and Hyde team... they won at Pitt March 3. Then lose to Rutgers in the Big East. Before beating Pitt, they beat Cinncy in a big game where both teams played well... and before that lost three in a row.

What are the Shockers good at? I couldn't infer much from catching 5min of the George Mason game.

I had Witchita State beating Seton Hall and then Tennessee without doing any research. After looking at their profile and some of their stats seem pretty formitive. The shockers, isn't that a great name? xlolx , have 4 starters that average in double figures and they're deep, easily run 8 or 9 guys in. I'm not sure how atheletic they are which is important because athleticism is one of the Halls strengths. With their depth and balance i think they'll pound on the Pirates and eventually wear them down. However, in reality this game could either way, i picked Witchita State to win cause i love their nickname; plus the Pirates ended Temples "team of destiny" run in 2000. I think whoever wins the game will beat Tennessee, if they get by Winthrop, in the 2nd round.

The Shockers coach was doing an interview on the sports talk station here in Charlotte this morning. I think Seton Hall has the edge. I think they are a little stronger in the height and weight department. I'll see first hand how it goes since I'll be in Greensboro tomorrow for all the games.

The Shox have a 7 ft big man who was POY in the Valley. He is good around the hoop. UNI (2 good post players) and Bradley (another 7 ft big man) were the only teams basically able to shut him down.

The can also shoot it extremely well from outside.

They are very good. I think they can get to the sweet 16 b/c if they meet Tennessee, they've already seen Bruce Pearl's press when they played his mentor, Tom Davis, and the Drake Bulldogs.

Their downside is lack of NCAA tourney experience.

I think Wichita handles Seton pretty easily.

I have Wichita State in the Sweet 16, after beating WINTHROP, not Tennessee, in the second round. I then have them falling to Michigan State.

Ata man! Go Winthrop! I've learned not to diss Michigan St. when making picks, but they've struggled late, and UNC is just way too hot. I remember picking ODU over Michingan St. last year... I hope this year's CAA doesn't beat them now, oye.

I've noticed that in years past, a 7-10, or 6 usually makes it to the elite 8. I don't know about this year. I had G'town-Nova, but then I thought Ohio St. losing in their own state wouldn't be probable.

George Mason won't beat Michigan State. One of their best players is suspended for the first round game. So the Patriots were already an underdog, but now without a good guard they're screwed.

MT can coach. WSU will play good defense and be very intense. Expect 100% from the WSU players are MT will be in their face. It would be great to see Mark get to the Sweet 16.

MT coached at JSU for a couple of years before moving on to WSU (triple the salary). He will get an opportunity at a big school in the next few years.

After seeing both games, it looks like my idea of sending the Shockers to the sweet 16 was a great idea...

Tennessee almost fell to Winthrop and the Shockers just slapped around Seton Hall...

I'm betting they're pulling for George Mason tomorrow/today. As interesting as it would be for the shockers to beat UNC to advance to the elite 8, history says it's not going to happen.
