Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton certainly raised eyebrows with his comments to the Idaho Statesman last week concerning his league and the Western Athletic Conference.
Fullerton was sticking up for the Big Sky schools that had been invited to join the WAC and for one reason or another didn’t accept. Everyone has their reasons, but Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News quoted WAC commissioner Karl Benson saying, “The state of the economy didn’t allow FCS (schools) to make the decision.”
Fullerton, who counts six Big Sky schools receiving WAC overtures, begged to differ.
