In only her third collegiate game, a freshman pitcher for Lehigh's softball team threw a no-hitter against the Maine Black Bears yesterday in the Rebel Classic being held in Florida, which Lehigh won, 1-0, scoring in the top of the seventh and last inning. Lehigh had only one hit, itself. Talk about creating expectations down the road...I've always been amazed at the ability of these softball pitchers to throw no-hitters, one-hitters since we have the impression of 'softball' as being a picnick type game. Yet, the speeds with which they pitch and the distance shortened from rubber to home plate, I guess there is a proportionate relationship to hardball.

Yes, LU has created a juggernaut over the past 10 years with about 6 tourney championships and being finalist the others after being regular season champs. It's amazing sometimes how once a program starts rolling it seems to start feeding itself.

Oh yeah. It's totally different in the trajectory and nature of swing. I find the fast pitch softball game just as challenging as hardball--and I played hardball to American Legion.
