No, this isn't a blog posting about Rep. Anthony Weiner's latest Twitter dust-up, though you might think it from the title.
But another sort of dust-up seems to be occurring in the world of FCS football programs.
It's a different sort of strange tale than Mr. Weiner's - one of UNC-Charlotte football, Conference USA, the Atlantic Ten, and a bunch of athletic conferences that seem unwilling to add the 49ers to their conference lineup.
It also offers a huge opportunity for another FCS conference as well.
I'm getting a crazy hunch that the loss of the SoCon and Big South might be the CAA's gain - the CAA's very, very big gain.

It isn't considered a loss if we didn't want them to begin with...

I get the hunch you're trying way way too hard.
Look, we get it, you're in a tizzy that the SoCon and Big South turned down the 49ers as a football only member. We get it, you think the UNCC football program is the second coming, regardless of the fact that they've struggled with selling 5,000 season tickets.
If the 49ers were interested in joining as all-sport members in either of the two aforementioned conferences, they would already be in the door. They didn't and they're not. If the CAA can get them for all sports that's great, but I wouldn't consider it getting over on the SoCon or Big South commissioners.
Cut back on the hyperbole intake, you're going to choke. Stick to writing about the lack of Patriot League scholarships, it's your niche.

For the SoCon, it's more of a missed opportunity than anything else. But for the Big South it absolutely is about "getting one over on the commissioners". If Stony Brook and Charlotte join the CAA as a package, the Big South will be seriously crippled. You can't say that about the SoCon.
And I thought your niche was Photoshop xlolx

If the SoCon saw it as such, then UNCC would have been offered membership as a football only member. I don't think the conference is going to bothered one way or the other in regards to where UNCC ends up. You're more than welcome to continue playing the "missed opportunity" game though, being a PL fan, you certainly are accustomed to those. xthumbsupx

Absolutely. xlolx

Why do you have such a hard on for UNCC? Did your mom go there when you were in highschool or something?

If UNCC wants to join the CAA for all sports, they'll be welcome, but that is not the case. They have already signaled their intent to go FBS, so no one is going to take them as a temporary, football only member.
