The Kats are heading to the SLC tournament final after knocking off Stephen F Austin, our big rivals, at home after they had beat us last Saturday. 78-72 win! Now, let's get ready for this big game! I'm pumped! I am going to have a problem working on Sunday...I'm beginning to feel sick! :)

Just a great day to be a Bearkat and not a Lumberjack!
I went to the NCAA tournament in 2003 with the Bearkats and I'm really hoping they do well on Sunday so that they can go again. NW St would be a fine representative and as one site put it, "the most dangerous 13 seed since Weber State in 1999"...

Northwestern State and Sam Houston seek SLC tournament title

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Northwestern State, which won the regular season Southland Conference title last season but lost the tournament to Sam Houston, gets a second chance on Sunday.
Northwestern State and Sam Houston meet for the tournament title and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament at 1 p.m.
Last season's loss was especially bitter for the Demons, who arrived at the title game with a 24-7 record — the most wins in school history. This year Northwestern has the same record and a different end in mind.
"Losing that game last year has been our driving factor through the season," said Northwestern State forward Clifton Lee, the team's leading scorer at 12.9 points a game. "Our season is not complete until we win the conference tournament. Our work isn't done."

Sorry, I assumed that all games would be over today, with selection Sunday (or whatever they call it) being tomorrow.
Anyway, and again, good luck!

Several games tommorrow...including Big XII, SLC championship, ACC, SEC and Big Ten Championship games...
SLC used to be on Monday, but now can benefit from exposure of being sandwhiched between big games.

Uh, don't recall Sam Houston State going to the dance last year. : smh : That loss in the tournament last year was a 49-42 setback to ... Southeastern, who also eliminated Sam Houston State in the semifinals
Another great example of the media (especially the AP xidiotx ) not doing their homework on the smaller conferences :bang:

I didn't even catch that! Sam Houston St didn't even face NW ST in the SLC tournament during that 2003 SLC tournament run (we faced McNeese and SFA). Thanks for bringing it up. That's pretty ridiculous. :nonono2:

Congrats to NW St. that was a pretty entertaining game. SHSU coach Marlin reminds me of Larry K. at Montana.

Good game but we just could not capitalize when we needed to and took WAY to long to shoot the ball in the final minute of play. Congrats to the Demons, represent the SLC well!
Kats, lets hope for an NIT selection so we can keep playing.

Are the Kats really deserving of an NIT? Not really sure...RPI of 112, which I believe may be the second or third highest in school history...we'll know in about an hour...

Hey now, softball is 3-0 in the SLC and baseball is 2-1 in their new digs...and quite frankly, track is the most exciting of them all!
There's more than just basketball and football in this world... :hurray:
