I'm going to be voting for the first time this year and I'd really like to know how many starters each team returns.

anyone have a link where i could find something like this? i can find the one for the CAA, someone posted that link the other day.

anyone have a site that has this kind of info (maybe for ALL FCS teams in one place)? i can attempt to track down each conference individually if i must, but just figured some of you might already know this info.

I also did a little research and here is what I came up with for some of the teams (I hope it is accurate):

Old Dominion - 22
Georgia Southern - 21
Stephen F. Austin - 19
Northern Iowa - 18
Central Arkansas - 17
Eastern Washington - 16
U Mass - 16
Eastern Kentucky - 16
Appalachian State - 15
Sacramento State - 15
Southern Illinois - 15
William & Mary - 14
Montana State - 14
Liberty - 14
Cal Poly - 14
Wofford - 13
Richmond - 13
Lehigh - 13 (15 including 2 medical redshirts)
Western Illinois - 12
Delaware - 10
Villanova - 10

P.S. This is not counting specialists...

TTU went 5-6 last year, ending up by beating top 10 Jacksonville St. "We" only lost 8 seniors, 3 who were back-ups, 2 missed over half the year due injuries. TECH returns 25 seniors and 26 juniors and only lost 2 D-lineman and 1 - DB that started every game last year (roughly, off of the top of my head). I think that warrants consideration for the Top 25. But, I would not be surprised and understand if no votes are earned...

UND is extremely young just 7 starters return on offense and only 5 on defense. Lots of freshmen and sophomores that will grow up by 2012 when we start Big Sky play and become playoff eligible.

South Dakota State returns 7 starters on Offense and 6 on Defense. We've got some holes to fill on both sides of the line and in the secondary, which is never a good thing...

How accurate is that? UD, at least by the game notes from the national title game, return 12 starters from that game alone (8 offense, 4 on defense), and that doesn't include spot starters (something less than 5 games started) throughout the year.

Yeah, the only problem for us is that we've recently learned that they are all talentless. In view of that, coupled with the ridiculously antiquated offense our coaches run, I expect an announcement that our season has been cancelled at any time now.

Hahaha. Well I heard something similar, only I also heard that there was no use playing Chatty this year because they've been playing with us all these past several years and now they've deciding they should start being serious. I think App is just gonna forfeit this year. No use. We both might as well forfeit to Samford too.

Actually have been working on this for weeks.
My spring stats page for FCS should be online by June 5th
and will list number of starters lost offense & defense for all teams on one page.

JMUfan999, I will PM you when it is finished.

You can make a case that GSU isn't losing any starters. Johnathan Bryant, who was a starter at Aback was lost before the season. Dion Dubose starting DE was lost mid season. Webb didn't even play in the playoffs, and Lavelle Westbrooks got a ton of snaps for Carson Hill. We are loaded.

Well it is kind of deceiving since two players started at least a few games and played the bulk of a few others, but we do have four first time starters.

Albany returns seven starters on both offense and defense, and both kickers. Lost three OL and a WR on offense, lost DT, DE, CB and an OLB from defense.

Sort of depends on how one classifies returning 'starters' since some teams rotate players at various positions, so being the guy on the field for the first snap does not necessarily mean he is "the" starter, but only for the package called for. Generally speaking, though, Lehigh has 14/15 returning (7 on defense and 7/8 on offense depending on how one looks at it). Regardless, we should be pretty well experienced.

Furman 16 Starters returning

Offense (7): Colin Anderson (TE), Sederrik Cunningham (WR), Dakota Dozier
(LT), David Hendrix (WR), Ryan Lee (OT), Daniel Spisak (C), Tersoo Uhaa (RB)

Defense (7): Kadarron Anderson (LB), Colton Keig (DT), Josh Lynn (DE), Ryan
Steed (CB), Nathan Wade (FS), Chris Wiley (LB), Greg Worthy (LB)

You could realistically add Jerry Williams (RB) on offense as another starter returning.

On defense Shawn Boone or Ricky Lang replace Riley at DE, and Austin Williams or Cortez Johnson replace Griffin at DB.

Furman returns a ton of talent, now under what I expect to be a far better prepared coaching staff. Furman could be one of the most underrated FCS teams coming into the 2011 season.

15 starters 7 Offense 8 Defense

This was only accurate as of the beginning of the 2010 season. For example, Cyrus Lemon was a senior safety but was replaced by true freshman Colton Heagle. The only true starters we lost were TE Landon Smith and OL Michael Arndt on offense, and DT Matthew Gratzek and MLB Matt Anderson. The rest of your figure was replaced by underclassmen as the season went on. Surprised WDAY wrote it as such.

If we are going by starting at least one game in their careers than UNI has 29 players who have started at least one game. I believe the official number is 19 though.

UNI is a borderline top 10 team, while NDSU will be lucky to get in the poll.

Sometimes returning starters can be a "not so good thing". Chattanooga has 10 returning starters on defense (1 Senior was drafter), however the defense was the weak point on last years team. With that said, I rarely put as much impact on the number of returning starters, as I put on impact players returning.

We will see.

I'm still thinking we maybe even better at QB this season with this system.

Partsch was just filling in for Austin Wright (who was the starter at the beginning of the season) who was injured, but now is back. Might be the reason he left.

But I'll agree that the defense takes a hit, especially on the line with the departure of Charles, Warren and Sternes, not to mention two time All-American LB Jabara Williams.

SFA is thin on defensive linemen.
