Illinois State University’s President Al Bowman announced the appointment of Gary Friedman as the Redbirds’ Director of Athletics Wednesday. Friedman, who previously served as the senior associate athletic director at Louisville, was chosen from approximately 45 applicants. He will officially begin the position on June 1.
Friedman will be Illinois State’s 10th Director of Athletics in the NCAA Division I era. He has more than 22 years of combined university and athletic administration at Louisville, Central Michigan, East Tennessee State and Illinois.
