You can call me The Russian if you want, many people do.
I figured that due to my low post count many of you don't know who I am so I thought I would share a little about me and the football team I support.
I am from a small town called Missoula which is located in Missoula County, Montana.
http://www.destination360.com/north-america/us/montana/images/s/missoula.jpg
You may have heard of it from things like the movie/book A River Runs Through It.
http://hatcreekcattlecompany.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/a-river-runs-through-it.jpg
Missoula can get pretty cold during the winter, but we don't talk it about it much.
Anyway, we have a university here called the University of Montana. It has been voted as the most scenic campus in America by Rolling Stone magazine.
http://missoula.freetoasthost.com/images/missoula.gif
The football team here is called the Montana Grizzlies. They have a long history, both good and bad. I can remember a time when fans called the team the Fizzlies because they stunk so bad. That all changed in the early to mid 90's.
You see in 1995 we went to and won the National Championship Game at Marshall. You probably have never heard any of our fans talk about this, we are very humble when it comes to our success. We won this game on the back of a quarterback named Dave Dickenson. He was very good and went on to have a good career in the CFL.
http://www.umt.edu/urelations/mainhall/301/dickenson.jpg
We went back again in 1996 but lost. I blame Randy Moss, you may have heard of him. He was playing for Marshall in those days.
We didn't make it back until 2000. That year we lost to Georgia Southern by 2 points. It was sad and we don't talk about it. The next year we made it back and this time won! We held Furman to a shutout until the last play of the game. That was an exciting time in Missoula.
Since then we have been back 3 times. In 2004 when James Madison University cheated by pouring excessive amounts of water into the fresh sod. In 2008 when we lost to Richmond because they honestly were a better team. In 2009 we lost to Villanova because our coaches didn't realize that when they played the wildcat you can't put your safeties 15 yards off the line. Also they stopped throwing to Marc Mariani.
Speaking of Marc Mariani, you probably haven't heard of him. Quite the success story. He walked on at Montana from a tiny town called Havre. He ended up setting records and being very good. He now plays in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans. He is pretty good at returning kicks.
http://media.al.com/sports_impact/photo/8937084-large.jpg
The Montana Grizzlies play in a stadium that is ok, we don't really talk to much about it. It's called Washington-Grizzly Stadium. It's kind big for a FCS stadium. We also get a lot of fans at our games. I think it's kind of middle of the road as far as numbers go for FCS. I don't really know. It can get kind of loud there sometimes. Only when we play D-II schools though.

If you want a burger nothing tops the Mo Club. Get the horseradish cheese and hot mustard. Good ****! Plus if you are lucky a former Montana Grizzly might be tending the bar.

I'll have to go check out that place. BTW, I think Laslovich's know that carrying on the tradition of have a former or current Griz making a burger and serving you a beer is very good business. That's been going on since I think that's been going on for 30 or 40 yrs. and hope it continues long into the future.
Great burger, I trust your sense of judgment.

I'll admit I've fapped to it. The problem is, I've seen every published picture. Could you sneak by and take some from a different angle? Maybe the dirtier parts that people rarely see, like the dumpsters or the grills in the concession area. I need stimulation.

You can call me Bob, many people do. Don't call me Bobby. It's just bad form and I prefer Bob dammit!
I figured that due to my recent absence many of you don't know who I am so I thought I would share a little about me and the football team I support.
I went to school in a small town called Statesboro which is located in Bulloch County, Georgia.
You may have heard of it from things like Chamionships, titletown, Erk Russel, the stink, Tracey Ham, Adrian Peterson, making Youngstown St. look like a high school team, etc.
Statesboro can get pretty hot during the entire year, but we go on about way too much.
Anyway, we have a university here called the Georgia Southern University. It has sand gnats and a drainage ditch alongside the hottest women, per square mile, of all universities in the Americas.
The football team here is called the Eagles. They have a short history, both good and bad. I can remember a time when fans called the team the Eagles because they were true fans and didn't abandon their team during the lean times.
In 1985 we went to and won the National Championship Game against Furman. You probably have never heard any of our fans talk about this, Most of you weren't born when this happened. We won this game on the back of a quarterback named Tracey Ham. He was very good and went on to have a good career in the CFL.
We went back again in 1986 and beat Arkansas St. God, I loved seeing Ham play in those days.
We made it back in 1989. That year we had a perfect 15-0 record and we can't stop taking about it! Good God we couldn't be stopped by anyone! The next year we made it back and this time won (again)! We beat Stephen F. Austin, who cheated and still couldn't win. That was an exciting time in Statesboro.
Since then we have been back a number of times. In 1998 when God and the Mocs in Chattanooga tried to pass off that minefield as a football field, we got ate up by the turf monster and allowed a bunch of scrubs from UMass to squeak past us. In 2002 when we lost to Western Kentuckey they honestly were a better team because thay were moving to I-A and had those recruits on the roster.
The GSU Eagles play in a stadium that is ok, we don't really talk to much about it. It's called Our House aka The prettiest Little Stadium in America. It's kind big for a FCS stadium. We also get a lot of fans at our games. I think it's kind of middle of the road as far as numbers go for FCS. I don't really know. It can get kind of loud there sometimes. That's me in the blue shirt on the left.

Yes. This team sounds truly incredible! Has anyone actually beaten them in a playoff game, like in the last five years? It would seem highly unlikely, as good as they are.
Also, we'll require pictures for proof of the chick claim. Get on it Robert.

Ah,the Force is strong with this one. It's true that this team was be beaten in the post-season of 2010. A Goliath from Delaware was able to topple this David.
Given another year of maturity in the system and strength training, there is no kryptonite or any other element on the right-hand side of the periodic table that can slow this team down. GSU return all but 1 of the starters!

And with the pool of transfer FBS quarterbacks very poor this year, Goliath is about a foot shorter.

I went to school in a really small town called Cheney, located in Spokane County, Washington.
You may have heard of it from things such as the former home of Seattle Seahawks training camp, ESPN SportsNation host Colin Cowherd, NBA star Rodney Stuckey, Buchanan and Payton award winners, or the world's first red football field.

Cheney can get pretty hot during the summer and really cold during the winter, but we're used to it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-nK-9vs-Kg
Anyway, we have a University here called Eastern Washington University. It has been voted as a national Top 50 Best Value school by Consumer's Digest.
The football team here is called the Eastern Eagles. They have a long history, both good and bad. There was a time when nobody took the Eagles seriously as a contender on the national stage. That all started to change in 2004.
You see, in 2004 we had a phenom quarterback named Erik Meyer. He set many EWU and Big Sky records, and won the Walter Payton award in 2005. He led us to an upset victory over #1 seeded Southern Illinois in the first round of the playoffs. They had a guy named Brandon Jacobs on their team. You may have heard of him.
http://www.espnnorthwest.com/media/photologue/photos/cache/erik%20meyer_display.jpg
After beating SIU, we hosted our first playoff game in Cheney. We had a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter, but prevent defense prevented us from winning, and Sam Houston State came back to beat us with a PAT in the last second of the game. We don't like to talk about that much.
Since then we've made the playoffs 4 out of 6 years. In 2005 we lost by a FG to eventual National Runner Up Northern Iowa, and in 2007 we lost to eventual National Champion Appalachian State by a FG after having waxed the undefeated and #2 ranked McNeese State Cowboys.
In 2010, we went 13-2 and a perfect undefeated 8-0 at home in the inaugural season of the world's first red turf we call The Inferno. In the very first game on this famous turf, we had a thrilling come from behind victory over the defending National Runner Up Montana Grizzlies. In the final game on the red turf of 2010, we upset the defending National Champion Villanova Wildcats and their legendary WR/RB Matt Szczur. That win propelled us to our first National Championship game against the vaunted Delaware Blue Hens. In what would become one of the greatest come from behind victories FCS has ever seen, the EWU Eagles overcame a 19-0 deficit by putting up 20 points in the final 17 minutes of the game to win their first ever National Championship. And we did it without our all-world RB sensation Taiwan Jones.
Speaking of Taiwan Jones, you may have heard of him. He wasn't recruited by any big name schools, but Eastern was smart enough to offer him a full-ride scholarship. It worked out pretty well for us. Set records, and was recently drafted by the Oakland Raiders. He's pretty fast.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCIN6EWoPBo&feature=related
The Eastern Eagles play in a pretty small stadium, so we don't really talk about it too much. It's called Roos Field. Despite its small size, it's kind of a big deal in the FCS world because of it's audacious red turf. A lot of people don't like it, but we don't care, because our fans do, and we're undefeated on it. We're not very loud, but our field is.

I've been to your "small town" and, believe me, I could take my village and place it in a small corner of Missoula. To me, Missoula is a large (beautiful, cold) city. I realize it isn't Los Angeles (which defies description), but be very thankful for that. Missoula is a nice size. It has pretty much every thing it needs (except for a Major League Baseball Team), but except for it's weather, I'd move there in an instant. Be thankful for a nice place to live.

Hi there. I’m Tribal. Since I’m fairly new here, you wouldn’t have heard of me. Unless, of course, you’re a GA State fan. In that case, you’ve heard of me and your hatred makes me laugh. Nice rented dome and horrible football team. You’re not going to a FBS conference anytime soon...stop starting threads about it. I know, I know, you’re in a big city with a huge media market.
Back to the point. William & Mary was founded in 1693 (the second oldest college in America) and is nestled on a beautiful 1,200-acre campus in Historic Williamsburg, Virginia. Our football stadium is equally ancient. We don’t talk about it much. Our football team won the CAA title last season but we were summarily beaten in the 2nd round of the playoffs by the real GSU. We don’t talk about that much, either. Athletically, we have won more CAA championships than any other school. We like to talk about that, but not when someone brings up the fact that we’ve only done that because of our “Olympic” sports. Usually, when we can’t beat our drum about out football team, we talk about academics. You see, William & Mary is home to:
Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's first academic Greek society, founded in 1776.
The nation's first Honor Code (no one has ever violated it).
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and John Tyler were educated here.
The second highest graduation rate in the nation among public research institutions.
Forbes ranked us the second highest state-supported university in the country.
Kiplinger ranked us the fourth as a "Best Value" among College and Universities in the nation.
US News & World Report ranked us the best small public school, sixth among all public universities, and 31st overall among the nation's best universities.
We have the oldest Law School in the nation (Thomas Jefferson was our first student of law).
We have the highest Fulbright Scholarship acceptance rate (46%) of any major research university in America.
If our average SAT scores were dollars, it would pay your mortgage…for two months.

He really thinks that nature should be allowed to run it's course and that man shouldn't intervene. So he feels that when hundreds of cattle are killed in a year by wolves that it is the man's own fault for intruding into the land of the wolf. He finds wolves to be majestic and beautiful creatures. He also feels that man shouldn't hunter deer or elk, for that is the domain of the wonderful wolf.

Thanks in advance.xthumbsupx
They don't allow pictures to be taken of Wa-Griz because if one were to just look at a picture one would need to have ear plugs in and be bundled up in winter clothing because of the extreme cold and loudness emitted.

Hi Vidav, thanks for sharing. Does your team have a rival? Does it play in a rivalry game? If so, what's it called? Is it old?
Can you post a picture of the Clark Fork and downtown in summer when the water is more clear and the trees have leaves?
Thanks.

It does get quite loud and cold. We don't feel it gives us any advantages though.

We do have a rival, they are Montana State University. We play our final regular season game of each year against them, it's called the Brawl of the Wild. It has been going on for a long time. We usually win.

Hi, I'm Kalm. I'm also referred to as Klam, Kalmunist, or as PolsonGriz likes to call me "you ****ing ewu douchebag mother****er."
Like SE174 I am also a fan and graduate of Eastern Washington University which is located in the small college town of Cheney, WA. Cheney sits on the edge of the Northern Palouse and is the highest incorporated city in the State of Washington. There are many things to do around Cheney as the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge and 7 great fishing lakes are within a few minutes south and Spokane Washington - the largest city between Seattle and Minneapolis and Calgary and Salt Lake City - is just 15 minutes away.

That view is from Steptoe Butte which you can see from our stadium some 40 miles to the north.
Speaking of our stadium, we are frequently told it resembles a small high school stadium in the state of Texas. So we don't like to talk much about that. We used to play home games off campus at Joe Albi stadium in Spokane which made Griz fans really happy as more of them could fit. But we moved our home games back to Cheney and spray painted our field red just to piss them off. Soon, as early as this fall, we will have our first video screen which will increase the amount of retinal damage already caused by looking at the Inferno.

EWU has no remaining true rivals as Idaho has moved up and Central Washington University remains in DII. But we do like to think of Montana as our rival and are quite chippy about it as they have more tradition and a larger stadium. Fact: EWU has more wins at Washington Grizzly Stadium than any other opposing team. Here's a pic of our 2005 team singing the fight song in south endzone:

Sorry to be so grizcentric but before we won the National Championship we were their red fielded step child. Oh, and I was born in Missoula and kind of feel connected.
EWU has won national championships in Wrestling (NAIA), Men's Cross Country (DII), and Football (DI). EWU has made one NCAA Tournament appearance in Basketball, and the Volleyball team has been ranked in the top 20. EWU was originally in the Evergreen conference and at one time was PAC-10 North Division in baseball.
Other notable alumni of EWU are former NFL playrs Kurt Schultz, Ed Simmons, Lamont Brightful, Bobby Picard, and Jesse Chatmann, and comic book legend and creator of Spawn Todd McFarlane who played baseball at EWU.

Please let me know if I can answer further questions related EWU, Cheney, or the state of Washington.

Yeah, when are you gonna get a parking lot so we don't have to park nine miles away when we come to town for games?

Hi I'm Pard4Life.

You might remember from threads such as "Patriot League scholarships, again" and "If it's Brown, flush it down."
You can call me P4L or Pard if you want. Many people do. Even though I have been here for over four years, I figured that since I have not posted much recently and I follow a backwater and troglodyte-led league, many of you don't know who I am, so I thought I would share a little about me and the football team I support.
I went to school in a former industrial city called Easton, which is located in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, aka the Lehigh Valley. It's located on the Delaware River and borders New Jersey.

You may have heard of it from things like the Crayola Crayon Factory, World Heavyweight Champion Boxer Larry Holmes, and the first reading of the Declaration of Independence outside of Philadelphia.

Easton can flood pretty badly anytime a storm comes through, but we don't talk it about it much because Lafayette sits a top hill and we just laugh when it happens because the Administration decided to build an arts campus in a flood plain.
Anyway, we have a college here called Lafayette College. It has one of the most scenic campuses in America and is one of the most difficult to get into. We try to pretend we belong in the Ivy League, well, at least the administration does. We blew our chances at that when our fans assualted the UPenn football team in the 19th century.

We have some famous alumni: William Simon, "energy czar" and the US Treasury Secretary under President Nixon:

Judge Joseph Carter, whom alumni affairs still cannot locate:

Allan P. Kirby, a founder of Woolworth's who broke down the JP Morgan investment banking empire via Allegheny Corp. and donates a lot to Lafayette.
U.S. Army Chief of Staff Peyton March, who modernized the U.S. military after WWI:

The recent head of the Federal Reserve branch in Chicago, the current US Ambassador to Senegal, the guy who led the team that invented the microcomputer at IBM, blah blah blah other important people...
The football team here is called the Lafayette Leopards. You may have heard of us because we have the most played rivalry in college football vs. Lehigh. We invented the football helmet and the huddle.
Lafayette has a very long history, both good and bad, since they were one of the first teams ever. We won three National Championships in 1896, 1921, and 1926 and used to be a national power. You probably have never heard any of our fans talk about this, because every fan from that time is dead and our fans today don't know it happened. I can remember a time when we almost moved the Division III and eliminated football because we had a President and Board who wanted to be like Swarthmore. But that all changed in the early 2000s
You see in 2000 our alumni got really upset and started donating more money. And we promoted our assistant coach to head coach. His name is Frank Tavani. You probably have not heard of him. He had a vision and is an excellent motivator, so he got us some players who could play ball.
In 2002, we beat a very cocky team, Lehigh, who was ranked number one in all of FCS the first half of the year. You probably have never heard any of our fans talk about this because they are mostly old and dead, were drunk at the time, or were more interested in tailgating. Anyway, we've beaten Lehigh 70-some-odd times, so to us it's not that big a deal.
We beat Lehigh again in 2004 to make our first ever postseason game! Well, our first ever postseason game was supposed to have been in the 1948 Sun Bowl, but the racists in Texas kept us from playing as a team. You will never hear our fans talk about it because they don't remember, though it was kind of a big deal nationally when it happened.
We played Lehigh again in 2005 and won in the last minute!! Lehigh was so confident it was heading to the playoffs that their announcer was guessing at playoff opponents. We can't stop talking about it. We got an at-large playoff bid and played App St. to the wire in Boone.
We beat Lehigh and made the playoffs again in 2006. Our fans recall it as the "shock and awe" game. Lehigh was dancing at mid-field before the game saying "our house," and then Lafayette ripped-off 28 straight points after a Lehigh opening TD. We also can't stop talking about this.
http://collegeprowler.com/images/standard/1106/image.jpg
We beat Lehigh again in 2007 for a four-peat. But, we lost in 2008 after our coach Frank Tavani did not start our inspirational leader, Rob Curley. He played really well in the second half, but it was too late. Many of our fans cannot forget this happened.
In 2009, Lafayette was going to win the Patriot League title! We ended up playing Holy Cross and QB Dominic Randolph. You may have heard of him. He was their whole team. Anyway, Lafayette was losing late in the game and driving for the win. Boom! We get a pass interference penalty... or not! No, it was a no-call, and we lose the game. The Patriot League, two days later, issued an apology and admitted that a penalty should have been called. In all my years of football, I have never seen this happen! But anyhow, we missed two consecutive PATs and we lost by two points.
The next game, we played a terrible Lehigh team, but we lost in overtime. Late in the game, we were going to take the lead when our coach calls a HB blast up the middle four straight downs from inside the five. We were stopped all four times. We are so upset that this happened that we don't like to talk about this, though a grumpy old Lafayette fan named carney2 never lets us forget it happened.
The Lafayette Leopards play in a stadium that is one of the best in FCS. We can't stop talking about it. It's called Fisher Field at Fisher Stadium.
http://www.chacompanies.com/images/projects/Lafayette1_resize.jpg
It's an average sized FCS stadium. We don't get many fans at our games and when they do show up, they sit on their hands or only go to the Lehigh game. I think it's kind of middle of the road as far as numbers go for FCS. I don't really know. It can get so quiet there sometimes that we can hear the coaches barking at the players and the coming plays. Only when we play MAAC schools or Columbia though.
Anyway, I hope this helps everyone understand who I am and where I come from. Feel free to ask any questions!!!!

Great idea! We should apply a parking improvements surcharge to all tickets purchased by Montana fans.
