Dead at the age of 44 after a stroke. :nonono2: : smh : :(

I hate the Twins with a passion but he was a great player and not your prototypical superstar (5'8" 225lbs).

I heard he was 400 lbs when he died. Any truth to this?

Several family and friends were concerned for his health. His parents and at least one brother died young.

“I want my young teammates to know…play with pride and dignity…just don’t take it for granted because you never know. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Anything can happen to any of us. So enjoy yourself.”

These words were uttered in 1996 by Minnesota Twins legend Kirby Puckett when he announced his premature retirement from the game he loved so much after being stricken with glaucoma. The poignancy of his statement hit home hard this past week, as the 45-year-old Puckett was struck down by a massive stroke on Sunday. Their irony was compounded on Monday when the irrepressibly optimistic Puckett was pronounced dead after surgery failed to relieve pressure on his brain...

Did his ex-wife speak?

Sorry dirtbag, no cat fight here :( All the speakers thanked Tonya and Jodi for inviting them to speak. :)

Jodi Olson (Kirby's fiance):
"Tonya has been truly wonderful through this," Olson said. "I'm very close to his siblings. He was very close to my family. Which, sometimes, people think is uncommon. But it was one big happy family."

Tonya Puckett:
"I know that I've made peace with Kirby," she said. "I really have. And for me, that came a long time ago. I can tell you that I've never loved a man like I loved him."

"That's how my life with him was. He always made it happen, found a way to let somebody benefit; made some good out of everything, even in his death. How can you top that?"
