Very cool site with a pretty horrid Fordham representation (only 2 total designs). Overall, I dig the Michigan Blue Hens quite a bit as well, although for October 31st games I prefer Princeton.

Some random comments:
*Albany should have stuck with the paw print, imo. Their 2nd best was the Auburn rip-off. Again, just my opinion.
*UPenn should have stuck with the 1981-91 1/2 blue & 1/2 red "P" design.
*The MEAC is hurting pretty bad overall. Norfolk St. and Florida A&M in particular, can't seem to get out of their own way when it comes to putting something cool up there.
*JSU 2000 may be the worst:

Tastes in unis and helmets is an amazing thing... I like Dartmouth. Matter of fact, my favorite conference as a whole is the Ivy and my least favorite is the Southland. At least we agree on Harvard. :D

Sorry Griz and Gate fans, my least favorites have to be the baseball script helmets, especially when you abbreviate mascots. My HS (Bulldogs) went to script 'Dogs' one year and it was the worst. I came up with an alternate helmet for Gate last year in honor of our own 13, I'll have to try one for Montana.

But it's still the best in my book, in fact in all of college football as well. If you're going to steal do it from the best. Besides, it's not like we recently stole the design, it has been well over 50 years now - has to be one of, if not the longest, running same design in all of IAA football (a few tweaks in color but basically the same uni).

I don't like ours at all, too bland. The gold is cool but "Bears" in block lettering is way too generic.

Also, white face masks on gold helmets looks crappy. Gray or blue would pop so much better.

When you've had the same that helmet for 50+ years... I think it's safe it's identified as 'yours' as much as anyone else.

I also like the Portland State helmet in the Big Sky. Outside of the Big Sky I personally like the Princeton, Dartmouth, Towson, Hampton, and McNeese State helmets. Go Eagles!!! :nod:

I think the use of EWU is very clever, but I'm not a big fan of clever for helmets. I like more a traditional designs. I do like EWU's unis though.

Well there are several that I like but here are my top three:
1. Dartmouth (love the retro looking helmet)
2. App St (that hurt being an Eagle)
3. Montana (New looking but not to flashy)

I like the classic looking helmets and unis. I think that a lot of teams that try to go with real flashy helmets and uniforms are usually trying to divert the attention of how bad their team is. The classic basic stuff says, "We're here to play football and get down and dirty."

Nah, that paw is too generic, the same logo is used for both dog and cat mascots. I preferred our previous Big-A helmet, it was unique. But the current one doesn't incur the wrath of the Anti-White-Shell Brigade (on the Helmet Project's discussion forum)

I miss UNI's old helmet that had the old gold with purple UNI in cursive. We also had the old gold pant w/ purple and white stripe down the side which set it off nice. That was back in the Cap'n Cat days. Not real happy about yellow replacing our gold as well as black replacing our gold pants. Our uniform before looked a lot like JMU's does today.

It's a little "busy' for my tastes. Good color combo, but I'd prefer a more simple design.

Our helmet looks good in person and on gameday. It does not look right from the hemet project. For one its a deep metalic gold on the top....not yellow. Its a completly original design and thats the main reason I like it.

It's unique, I'll give you that. But I wonder if it wouldn't be better if the EWU wasn't white. If it was black, maybe non-Eagle fans wouldn't see it, but I wonder if there isn't another alternative.

Other than that, it's great.

Nah, it's not just you, Tod. I don't get the appreciation of PSU's helmet, either. I like stylized logos, but PSU's is too stylized. It's to the point where it's really difficult to figure out what it's supposed to represent. PSU has a very good nickname, but if you didn't know what it was and all you had was the helmet, you'd never figure it out.

As far as the Griz helmet goes, it just seems like it's just right and has always been thus--although we know UM has had some ugly helmets in the past.

I tend to agree with those who say that a design should be simple. Helmets aren't big enough to withstand a fussy design and be intelligible.

Don't mess with what works. If anything, change the jersey's a bit more and put those interlocking UDs on the shoulders.

Actually, the "Texas" orange was the new colors. Maroon and silver are the original Griz colors used from 1897 to the mid 1960s when they made the change to copper. I like the old uniforms and helmets because they were so unique, but nothing beats maroon and silver on gameday.

I liked the old Griz yellow helmets because they stood out so well. The only team I can really think of with that same distinction is McNeese State.

This is Coastal's old helmet of the first season, but the one last season had the wings curve upward on the bottom instead of being flat. Rumor is we may take the bird off all together.
