#20 Alabama plates a run in the 7th to knock off Appalachian State 4-3 in Tuscaloosa. So close.

Not looking forward to the rest of the series...

Conference RPI...

Some notables from I-AA conferences or atleast conferences with I-AA FB schools as members...

SWAC is 4-36 against Div I competition and ranked 28th out of the conferences...but will find usual spot once northeastern schools get rolling and play some baseball...
28 SWAC 0.3368 4 36 0.1000 Southern

Missouri Valley has a strong OOC thus far, with 12 times as many wins than SWAC against Div I competition (for comparison's sake) and is looking sharp in 5th. Strong year for MVC all around...
5 Missouri Valley 0.5432 49 23 0.6806 Northern Iowa

Here's to UC Santa Barbara! Well, we don't have a good team, but Michael Young is a former Gaucho.

I actually think Long Beach State will be better than Fullerton.

Fullerton has lost to straight against Rice in Houston...

Rice is looking once more like they'll be CWS-bound. They got that amazing freshman hitter, Aaron Luna, the same one who led of his college career with several HRs in consecutive at-bats to be player of the week, his first week playing collegiate baseball...

Don't talk too soon 89, there's a second game to be played. I'm not a Clemson fan, but I am an avid Gamecock hater. No wonder you want to have ties with USC and keep a chicken as our mascot :smiley_wi .

Keep in mind that the BW teams have road games against Oklahoma, OK State, Oral Roberts, and Rice. Also, Fullerton's bullpen is supposedly bad.

Hate to be that guy Appies, but it's def a moral victory to be playing Alabama so close. Could be a good sign that the team will actually be competitive this year.

Wish our two wins over Coastal wouldn't have been on such a down year - from what it looks like for the Chants. What's the real story here? Really bad this year or a little down? I've tried telling some Furman fans about the success of the Chant baseball team the last couple of years in particular.

We lost 6 guys to the MLB draft last year, including All-American Mike Costanzo, both middle infielders, our top two starting pitchers, and our top guy out of the pen.

Despite that, we should have the talent to be better than we are. We do have a lot of new players (transfers and freshmen) so maybe it will just take some time for the team to get it together.

We're definitely going to have to win the Big South Tournament to make our sixth consecutive regional this year and with the way we're playing that seems extremely unlikely.

Our pitching coach left for a HC job at another school and Gilmore didn't hire a replacement. He is trying to do both jobs and has been changing the pitchers mechanics and styles from what was successful in the past.
