The article goes on to mention that there is another school looking to join the OVC as well, but doesn't mention if it is a D-II school or D-I school. Interesting....

Could we please wait and see how this first DII--->DI expansion does. SEMO's mens team beat SIUE by 20 last night and SEMO is not exactly a powerhouse in the conference.. Let's not jump the gun too fast here..

That school could be Jackson State of the SWAC.

Does North Alabama really have $1 million to spend this way?

I've wondered the same thing. UNA's problem is that the Gulf South Conference is crumbling and the Lions don't really have a D-II place to go. Their choices are basically to spend a lot of money to move up, or move down.

UNA has discussed moving out of the Gulf South Conference for ages... will they finally pull the trigger? And what good does moving to the OVC do them when the school they want to 'tag along' with in Jacksonville State is no longer FCS, but in FBS?
UNA has already watched Troy sky-rocket past them from Div II into FBS. If Jax State does it, that's problematic for them. They may be better off in Div II, where they would not have to play and routinely lose to those folks in football.
